QUEENSBURY – Dr. Jennifer Powers-Lang, 39, of Queensbury, went home to the Lord, on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 16, 1974, in Albany, she was the daughter of Paul F. Powers of Albany and Linda Michalak of Brant Lake.

Dr. Lang was a 1992 graduate of Queensbury Union Free High School.  She then furthered her education and graduated from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA, Magna Cum Laude in 1996 while there she was a member of the Psi Chi Chapter. In 1998, she received a Master of Science Degree from the California School of Professional Psychology. In 2003, Dr. Lang graduated from California School of Professional Psychology  in San Diego, CA with a Doctorate of Philosophy in Health Psychology.

On May 12, 2012, she married Aaron Lang in Lake George.

Dr. Lang was a staff psychologist with CHE Senior Psychological Services, Albany and had a private practice in Glens Falls. Previously she worked as a Behavior Supervisor , assessing and coordinating Behavior Programs for children with autism at the Center for Autism Research for Evaluation Services in San Diego, CA.  She also worked as a counselor for one summer at the Double H Hole in the Woods in Lake Luzerne.  Jennifer had a special place in her heart for all her patients.

Jennifer was a member of New Beginnings Community Church in Queensbury, The American Psychological Association, and The National Honor Society in Psychology.  She  enjoyed crafting, pottery, traveling, nature, her dogs and relaxing with family and friends.

Jennifer is survived by her husband, Aaron Lang;  her step daughter, Emily Stender of Phoenix, AZ; her parents, Paul F. Powers of Albany and Linda Michalak and her husband, Edward of Brant Lake; her brother, Ian Powers and his wife, April of Denver, NC; her sister Erin Powers of Albany; her nephew, Avery Powers of Denver, NC; her nephew Jackson Lang of  Jericho, VT, her niece Charlotte Lang of Jericho, VT; her maternal grandmother, Josephine Mauceri of Schenectady; several aunts, uncles and cousins; her mother and father in law, Paul and Yvonne Lang of Corinth and their children Chad and Amy Lang of Jerico, VT and Collin Lang of Saratoga Springs; her best friend, Dr. Shirin Sherkat of Seattle, WA and she is also survived by Lucy, her Yorkshire Terrier.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at New Beginnings Community Church, 487 Dix Ave in Queensbury.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Thursday, at the Church, with Pastor Randy Gross, of New Beginnings Community Church, officiating.

Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Argyle.

Jennifer’s family would like to thank Dr. Mitchell Berger of UCSF, San Francisco, CA, the staff at the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center, especially Dr. Darci Gaiotti-Grubbs, the visiting nurses from Warren County and all of her family and friends for the care and support during her illness.
