Lana Marie (Waldron) Varney

Varney 1 Varney 2SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Lana Marie (Waldron) Varney, 60, of South Glens Falls and formerly of North Creek, passed away peacefully of February 10, 2016, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

Born on August 23, 1955 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Emma (Harvey) Waldron, Sr.

Lana attended Johnsburg Central School and on June 22, 1975, she married Albert Varney at St. Michael The Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.

Lana loved to play cards, especially pinochle and also enjoyed listening to all kinds of music.  Lana was very fond of her cat, George, who was her “Baby Boy”.  She was very fortunate to be a stay at home mom, who raised her five children.  Her world centered around her children, whom she kept in touch daily. Lana always gave her best to her kids.  She gave them her love, her complete devotion, her advice and also enjoyed teaching them how to swim, especially at night.  Lana was very close to her sisters and will be deeply missed by them.   She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.   Their world will not be the same without her. 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lois “Suki” Hoffis and her brothers, Daniel Waldron, Jr. and William Waldron.

Survivors include her loving husband of 41 years, Albert Varney of South Glens Falls; her five children, Crystal Marie Varney and her fiancé, James Selleck of North Creek, Jamie Lee Varney-Daniels and her husband, Kent of Wilton, Albert Henry Varney, Jr. of South Glens Falls, Ashley Ann Varney and her companion, Mary Bancroft of Hudson Falls and Amber Lynn Varney of South Glens Falls; her granddaughter, Rain Lana-Josafine Selleck; her siblings, Linda Patterson, Loni Rowe, Lisa Fairbairn, Lanette Waldron, Lori Descalarre, Laura Waldron, Sue Hanchette and Larry Waldron; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Michael The Archangel Church in South Glens Falls, with the Rev. Tony Childs, pastor, officiating.     

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
