Joseph E. Gray, Sr.

GraySOUTH GLENS FALLS – Joseph E. Gray, Sr., 79, of Riverview Street, passed away peacefully, at his home, on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 17, 1936, in Rutland, Vermont, he was the son of the late Louis and Margaret (Cobb) Gray.

After his graduation from High School, Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he received the Good Conduct Metal.  He proudly served his country for six years before his honorable discharge.

Following his discharge, he married Beverly Brown on March 24, 1960, at the Federated Church of Castleton, Vermont.

Joseph was employed for Rich Aluminum for several years before he went to work for Finch Pruyn in Glens Falls.  He retired from Finch Pruyn after 23 years of service.

Joseph enjoyed hunting in Vermont, fishing anywhere there was water, riding his ATV and spending wonderful hours with his family, at their camp on Hadlock Pond.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Bernard Gray and Robert Gray and his four sisters, Jean Kantorski, Joan Campney, Mary Cioch and Eileen Mitchell.

He is survived by children, Joseph Gray, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Snow Camp, NC, Catherine O’Keefe and Kevin Bickford of Kingsbury and Louis Gray and his wife, Tammy of Diamond Point; his three grandchildren, Warren Gray and his fiancée, Chelsea of Snow Camp, NC, James LaFoy and his wife, Kate of Queensbury and Brittany LaFoy of Diamond Point; two great grandchildren, Anthony Knapp and Alessandra LaFoy; two sisters, Shirley Spaulding and her husband, Willis of Essex Junction, VT and Katherine Taylor of West Winfield, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to The Community Hospice Foundation, 295 Valley View Blvd, Rensselaer, NY  12144.

Memorial Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Federated Church, 504 Main Street, Castleton, Vermont.
