HUDSON FALLS – Helen (Sipowicz) Ladd, 93, formerly of the Boulevard in Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility, in Fort Edward, joining her husband and son in Heaven on Sunday, April 26, 2015.
Born on August 24, 1921, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Bronislaw and Jadwiga (Stankowski) Sipowicz.
On November 24, 1946, she married James C. Ladd at St. Mary’s Church Rectory in Hudson Falls. He passed away December 31, 2005.
For 20 years, Helen worked at General Electric, Co. in Hudson Falls and Schenectady. Along with her husband, she also operated a grocery store on the Boulevard, which she later sold to her brother, Eddie. Following the sale of the store, Helen and her husband moved to Florida and later retired in Fair Play, South Carolina.
Helen enjoyed playing cards with her sisters, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, making beautiful needlepoint, which she gave to family members and crocheting afghans. She loved her visits to the casino and playing the lottery. Her family and friends enjoyed being around her, because she had such a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful outlook on life.
Besides her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her son, James C. Ladd, Jr., who died on February 16, 1964, her brothers, Bernard, Thaddeus, Robert, Edward, Raymond, Leonard and Richard Sipowicz as well as two sisters, Madeline Jackoski and Theresa Blondin.
Survivors include her brother, Donald Sipowicz of Hudson Falls; her two sisters, Ethel Frawley and Regina Curley both of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Helen’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
The Rite of Committal will be on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 2 p.m., at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward.
Helen always had a positive attitude throughout life and was loved by all at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility. Her family wishes to thank the nurses and aides on B wing at Fort Hudson for their wonderful care, compassion and love given to Helen during her stay. She loved everyone there as family.
