Ellen Ruth (Dandurand) Greenfield

greenfield-ellenFORT ANN – Ellen Ruth (Dandurand) Greenfield, passed to her rest at age 96, Wednesday morning, December 14, 2016, at her home.  

Born on September 18, 1920, in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Angeline (Aucoin) Dandurand. 

She married Glenn Greenfield on September 11, 1941, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Worcester, Mass. They were married 67 years, before he passed away in 2008.

They lived in Lysander and then Syracuse, before finally purchasing property and a home near Fulton. They raised their four children in this home.

Ellen worked as a secretary at times but focused on raising their four children. She worked and sacrificed to send all her children to schools to provide a Christian education for each one. 

Ellen loved to read and enjoyed many things of nature. She and Glenn were actively involved in their church and were faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Ellen was a beautiful example of her Christian faith to her family. She and her husband, Glenn enjoyed family gatherings and visiting their children and grandchildren. They also enjoyed vacationing at the Hampton Beach in New Hampshire.

Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her siblings, Paul Dandurand, Esther Hosley and her husband, Cy, and Martha Bird and her husband, Bernard. She also has one surviving brother, George Dandurand and his wife, Estelle of Cherry Valley, Mass. 

Ellen is survived by her children, Carol Grimes, Lois Greenfield, Glenn Greenfield and his wife, Kathy of Aspatula, Florida, and Joyce Miller of Manchester, NH; her six grandchildren, Ronald Grimes and his wife, Cheryl, Ronda Harrison and her husband, William “Bill”, Russell Grimes and his wife, Stacie, and Rachelle Grimes and Richard Mozal, all whom live locally, Melissa McDonald and her husband, Jason, and Heath Miller of Fletcher, NC. 

She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren, Ronald “Ronnie” and Ryan Grimes; Elizabeth, William “Billy” and Nicholas “Nicki” Harrison; Shane and Amanda Grimes; Brooke and Makayla Mozal, Brandon and Matthew McDonald. 

Services for Ellen will be private. 

Arrangement are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. in Hudson Falls.
