Gloria J. Jones

Jones, GloriaHUDSON FALLS – Gloria J. Jones, 76, of Lexington Avenue, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on July 20, 1941 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late H. Robert and Elizabeth B. (Meron) Evans.

Gloria attended Hudson Falls Schools and on June 15, 1960, she married Leonard Jones.  He passed away on October 3, 2003.

From 1983 to 1991, Gloria, along with her husband, Leonard, owned LaCabanna Restaurant on Glen Lake.  Being there was perfect for Gloria, because she loved being around people.   After her time at LaCabanna Restaurant, Gloria began working as a  Home Health Care Aide for the elderly.  This also was perfect for Gloria, as she enjoyed taking care of people.  

She loved playing the slots and shopping with her sister, Carol.  Gloria had a strong faith which she carried with her throughout her life.  She had an open door policy at her home.  Those that needed at bed were always welcome and those that needed a meal, never left hungry.   She was a loving and caring mom, a kind grandmother and great grandmother.  In fact, Gloria was proud to have been everyone’s Nana.  Her motto in life was “Be quick to forgive.”

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jeana Lynn Brayton, her brothers in law, Robert Hoffer and Roy VanKirk; her nephew, William Hoffer and her niece, Kim Duell.

Survivors include her five children, Charles Jones and his wife, Rebecca of Fort Ann, Elizabeth Henry and her fiancé, Jimmy Smith of Glens Falls, Leonard Jones and his wife, Jody of Glens Falls, Corrina Brayton and her husband, Ralph of Glens Falls and Barnaby Jones and his wife, Jamie of Glens Falls; her grandchildren, Benjamin Harrington, Natasha Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Justin Jones, Catherine Stukes, Dylan Paquette, Britney Jones, Anthony Jones, Cheyanne Jones, Grace Elaine Jones, Preston Jones, Coty Brayton, Mattisin Brayton, Nathan Brayton, Scout Jones, Tierney Jones and Cullen Jones; 16 great grandchildren; her sisters, Joyce McLaughlin and her husband, Gary of Lake George, Elaine Hoffer of Hudson Falls and Carol VanKirk of Fort Edward; her brother, Robert Evans and his wife, Cindy of Lake George; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, April 23, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be conducted at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town Fort Edward, with Rev.Thomas Babiuch, officiating.

While at the Glens Falls Hospital, Gloria always looked for Tice Magee, Nicole Carl, Sharon and Tonya Scoville because they were so kind and compassionate to her.  The family wishes to thank them and the entire staff on T-6 and T-2 for taking such good care of Gloria.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY  12110.
