HUDSONFALLS – Jessie I. George, 95, of Blenor Ave., went into the arms of the Lord, at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 30, 2017.

Born on March 3, 1922 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Edna (Carpenter) Jenkins.

Jessie was a 1940 graduate of the Glens Falls High School.

On August 26, 1949, she married Robert George in Cumberland, Maryland. He died on March 2, 1997.

Before her marriage, she was employed at Finch Pruyn Company in Glens Falls. Later, Jessie worked at Sherwood Medical in Argyle, retiring in 1988. She then worked several years at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home, where she assisted in feeding the elderly patients.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls, where she was a deaconess for many years. Jessie also ran the church thrift shop and was chairman of the trustees.

She belonged to the South Glens Falls Senior Citizen Club. Jessie enjoyed bowling with the Senior Citizen League and she also loved to dance.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son Robert J. George, and two brothers, Morgan A. Jenkins and Irving F, Jenkins

Survivors include one son, Richard A. George and his longtime companion, Valerie Clark of Hudson Falls; a granddaughter, Melissa A. LaBrake and her husband, Shawn of of Hudson Falls; two great grandchildren, Laconia and Dakota LaBrake; three nephews, Larry Jenkins and his wife, Roxanne, of Argyle, Leonard Jenkins and his wife, Sharon, of Hebron and Roger Jenkins and his wife, Mary, Hudson Falls; and several cousins and special friends. She is also survived by her special friend Solon Sherman.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert McCrory, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hudson Falls, officiating.

Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at at Bay Street Cemetery in Glens Falls.
