Erwin R. Howe

Howe, ErwinFORT EDWARD – Erwin R. Howe, 76, of Fort Edward, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.

Born on August 26, 1940, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Leonard and Marjorie (Griffin) Howe.

Erwin proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was employed for 32 years at Lehigh Cement in Glens Falls.

Erwin was at one time a member of Pine Knolls Alliance. He enjoyed gardening, travel, dairy farming, antiques, NASCAR, and wrestling. He was active in scouting, and worked with the Toys for Tots Marine Corps Detachment. Erwin did judging for scouts, and worked in the pits of the Washington County Fair.

In addition to his parents, Erwin was predeceased by his granddaughter, Pamela Howe; and his step-daughter, Jennifer Moffitt.

Survivors include his wife, Dellie Howe of Fort Edward; his children, Vernon Howe and his wife, Brenda of Fort Edward, Valerie Ingersoll and her husband, Kenneth of Fort Edward, Vickie Hughes and her husband, Chris of Argyle, Van Howe and his wife, Melissa of Gerrardstown, WV, and Amanda Burke and her husband, Darrell of Hudson Falls, Ellen Moffitt of Fort Edward; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sisters, Patricia Barody of South Glens Falls, and Barbara Whitman of Saratoga; his brother, Allen Howe and his wife, Joan of South Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. immediately following calling hours at the funeral home.

A burial will take place with full military honors, on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the Town of Stillwater.
