GANSEVOORT – E. Lynne Mager, 73, of Gansevoort, passed away peacefully and with grace in her home, surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, November 18, 2017.
Born on September 25, 1944 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Arthur James and Lorraine Veronica (Bombard) Philion.
Lynne graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1962 and SUNY Cortland in 1966.
In 1968, she married George Mager. Lynne was an avid and accomplished amateur tennis player and taught physical education in Waterville prior to moving back to the region. She officiated volleyball, basketball, and field hockey where she established lifelong friendships with coaches and fellow officials. In 1984 she became a mathematics teacher in Hadley-Luzerne and her passion for athletics continued, coaching Eagles bowling and girls’ basketball and softball teams. Retiring in 2007, she dedicated her love and time to her family and friends. Lynne shared and passed down her love of Lake George and was a fanatic of all her grandchildren’s activities including theater, music, swimming, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and softball. She loved golfing with friends, walking through her development and watching birds in her backyard.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur James and Lorraine Veronica (Bombard) Philion; and her brother, John Arthur Philion.
Survivors include her sister, Carole Patten of Vermont; her two children and their spouses, Christine Palmer and her husband, Daniel of Queensbury and Stephen and Colleen Mager of Hudson Falls; her six beloved grandchildren, Quinn, Hannah, Paige, and Andrew Mager and Rachel and Samuel Palmer; and many wonderful friends.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Darci Gaiotti-Grubbs and Mary ann Bump, for the love and support given to Lynne and her family.
Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls, 8 West Notre Dame Street in Glens Falls.
Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
