Dorothy “Dot” Burch

Burch, DorothyHUDSON FALLS – Dorothy “Dot” Burch, 81, formerly of Oak Street, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at The Stanton in Queensbury.

Born on October 22, 1935 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Wilber Simpson and the late Minnie J. (Nichol) Roscoe.

Dot was a 1953 graduate of Hudson Falls Main Street School.

For over 26 years, she was employed at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.  Dot loved working there because she loved taking care of people and making new friends.

She was a devoted member of the South Glens Falls Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Glens Falls.  Dot loved sharing her knowledge of the scriptures with people she met in the ministry.

Dot also loved to play the organ and piano, especially with Cornelia Aubrey.   When she was younger, Dot spent many hours crocheting and knitting beautiful sweaters for her family and friends.  In later life, Dot could be seen working on word search books and adult coloring books.

Besides her parents, Dot was predeceased by her son, Edward Burch, her brother, Frederick Simpson and her sister, Connie Robinson.

Survivors include her children, Joseph Burch and his companion, Debra Bushey of Hampton and Beth Corey and her husband, James of Hudson Falls; six grandchildren, Brandi Williams and her husband, Justin, Timothy Burch, Jamie Burch, Katherine Gurtler and her husband, Mark, Jeanette Corey and Alicen Corey; two great grandchildren, Ava and Piper Williams; her step mother, Natalie Simpson of Fort Edward; her sister in law, Peggy Simpson of Hudson Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special friend, Harriet Humason.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the South Glens Falls Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 81 Mohigan Street in Glens Falls.

Burial will be in the spring at Moss Street Cemetery.

The family suggests the memorial donations be made to World Wide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 81 Mohigan St., Glens Falls, NY 12801 or the American Diabetes Association, 2 Pine West Plaza, Albany NY 12205.

Arrangements are under the care of the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
