HUDSON FALLS – Debora Marie Ellis, 60, of Eighth Ave, passed away peacefully, with her caring family by her side, on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Glens Falls Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on December 10, 1956 in Glens Falls to Phyllis and Edward LaPan of Kingsbury.
Debora was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School, class of 1974. The following year, on February 22, 1975, she married the love of her life, Lawrence Ellis.
Debora worked at Hudson Falls Maple Street School, retiring after 24 years. For the last ten years, she was employed at Rite Aid in Kingsbury, where she was well known for her helpful and caring nature and her long brown hair. She was a hard worker and cared deeply for her fellow workers.
Debora enjoyed many trips to Florida and Maine, where she loved taking in the sun and breathing in the ocean air. Debora decorated her home for all the holidays. Her home showed her love of every season and her pride in her home. She had a special place in her heart for her niece and flower girl, Melissa Ellis. Debora was pretty and a hip lady. Family was the center of her life. Her husband and sons were her best friends. She was a proud mother of two wonderful sons and she will always be remembered as a loving and supportive wife to her adoring husband.
She was predeceased by her father in law, Benjamin Ellis.
Besides her parents, Edward and Phyllis LaPan of Hudson Falls, Debora leaves behind her caring husband of more than 42 years, Lawrence Ellis; her sons, Nicholas Ellis and his wife, Taylor of Hudson Falls and Neil Ellis and his companion, Cindy of Glens Falls; her only grandson, Hunter, the bright star in her life; her mother in law, Eva Ellis; her brother, Michael LaPan and his wife, Debbie of Fort Edward; her sister in law, Sherry Ellis of Florida, her brothers in law, Matthew Ellis and his wife, Darlene of Mass, and Andrew Ellis and his wife, Linda of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At the family’s request, there will be no calling hours and burial will be on a later date.
Debora’s family extends a special thank you to her closest friends, Kathy Hover and her cousin, Diane Leonelli, who showed their upmost love, care and companionship during Debora’s illness and her final hours. “We will be always so ever grateful”. Also, they would like to give a special thank you to the Glens Falls Hospital nurses and doctors for their care and concern.
