chasedarleneHUDSON FALLS — Darlene Rose Chase, 70, passed away Thursday, March 23, in Glens Falls after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born November 26, 1946 in Cobleskill to Bradford and Marjory Cupps. Her family later moved to Queensbury where she graduated from high school in 1964.

Darlene and her husband, Nelson “Butch” Chase Jr., were united in marriage on April 16, 1966 and spent over 50 years of life together. She was overjoyed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at a surprise party thrown in their honor.

In her early twenties, she worked for Sears. But, her primary, life-long job was as a loving and supportive wife, daughter, mother, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. Her work ethic and devotion to family and friends will be deeply missed.

Darlene enjoyed taking care of her family, reading, assembling puzzles, bowling, watching NY Knicks basketball and NY Mets baseball, cooking, baking, and candy-making, particularly at Christmas. She enjoyed making others happy, playing with the family dog Max and grand dog Tyson, and as all good mom’s do, enjoyed making everything OK. Darlene was the originator and coordinator of the Chase Family and Friends annual Fourth of July celebration, which will continue in her memory.

She was predeceased by her father Bradford Cupps, her mother-in-law Sally Chase Schenk, her fathers-in-law Nelson Chase Sr. and Roland Schenk, her sister-in-law Bonnie Currie; her brother-in-law James Currie Sr., her niece, Sara Chase, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include her mother Marjory Cupps of Queensbury, her husband of nearly 51 years, Nelson “Butch” Chase, Jr., of Hudson Falls, son, Nelson Chase III and his companion, Mary Huguley of Hudson Falls, daughter, Michelle Chase and her companion, Chris Duval of South Glens Falls, brother-in-law, James Chase Sr. and his wife, Lynn of Hudson Falls, uncle-in-law, James Maguire and his wife, Sher of Hudson Falls, adopted sister-in-law, Sandi Fox of Hudson Falls, and many nephews, nieces, and extended family members and friends who always referred to her as “Aunt Darlene”.

Friends and family are invited to call from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. The Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Company and Auxiliary will hold a short service at 6:30 p.m.
