Cynthia L. Collins

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Cynthia L. Collins, 64, of South Glens Falls, passed away, after a short illness, on January 6, 2022, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on November 12, 1957, in Saranac Lake, she was the daughter of the late Sanford A. “Skip” and Delmah “Jean” (Lewis) Collins.

Cynthia was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.  She then continued her education at Adirondack Community College, graduating with an Associate Degree in Applied Science.

For over 32 years, she was employed at Fizgerald Brothers in Glens Falls and then continued her working career at AngioDynamics in Queensbury.

Cynthia was an outdoor person who loved camping in the Adirondacks.  The center of her life revolved around her dog, Shelby and most importantly, her son, Cody.

Cynthia was a fighter who never gave up.  In 2008, she was proud to have fought the fight and survived Breast Cancer.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Debbie Jean Collins and her infant son, Nathan Marshall Collins.

Survivors include her son, Cody Marshall and his significant other, Candace Neri; her brothers, Craig A. Collins and his significant other, Lori Purvis and Dean E. Collins and his significant other, Deborah Hamelin; father of her son, Gary Marshall; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be at a later date in Union Cemetery, located in the town of Fort Edward.

The family suggests that memorial donations in Cynthia’s name be made to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park Avenue, Glens Falls, NY  12801 or SPCA of Update NY, 588 Queensbury Ave., Queensbury, NY 12804.

Leona M. Collins

Collins, LeonaHUDSON FALLS – Leona M. Collins, 88, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2017 from complications of Alzheimer’s.

She was born in Glens Falls on February 12, 1929, the daughter of the late John William Leppard and Geneva LaFarr Leppard.

Leona was the loving wife for over sixty years to Winfred Allen Collins who predeceased her.

Leona’s life was filled with children, grandchildren, travel and sports.

Her travels included nearly all of the United States and Europe. For over twenty years she was a semi-pro bowler, and in her youth, she played softball. In the 1960’s and 70’s Leona was a professional wedding cake baker.

A very warm and attentive mother, she leaves behind two children: Ronald W. (Jan) Collins of Hebron, NH and Michael E. (Jennifer Irwin) Collins of Argyle; as well as two grandchildren: Christopher I.V.M. Collins of Bellingham, MA and Sean M.D. (Susan Johnson) Collins of Northumberland; three great grandchildren; Zanthius, Eban and Accalia Collins.

She was one of fourteen children of which two sisters, Dorothy Leppard of Fort Edward and Donna Bohlman of Hudson Falls, remain.

Viewing will be at the Carleton Funeral Home in Hudson Falls, NY from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017, with services immediately following.

The Rite of Committal will be held in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Phyllis M. Collins

Collins, PMOREAU – Phyllis M. Collins, 76, of the town of Moreau, passed away February 5, 2015, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born November 30, 1938, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Ernestine Hoag.

Phyllis graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1956.

On June 21, 1959, Phyllis married Paul H. Collins, Sr. at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.  He passed away July 9, 2014.

In Phyllis’ earlier years she waitressed at several locations, but her favorite job was as a business owner of Smoke Rise Campgrounds in Pottersville, in which she and her husband previously owned.

Phyllis enjoyed knitting, crocheting, going camping, water skiing, bowling, cooking and playing cards.  Most of all, Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Phyllis was predeceased by her brother in law, Sanford A. “Skip” Collins, her sister in law, Jean Collins and her brother in law, Ronald Rich

Survivors include her children, Lori Collins-Strassburg and her husband, Walt, Paul H. Collins, Jr., and his wife, Laurie, Brian D. Collins and his partner, Kara Moak, all of Moreau; six granchildren, Walter P. Strassburg and his wife, Jennifer of Rochester, Robert Strassburg, Courtney Collins, Cari Collins, Emily Collins and Alyssa Collins, all of Moreau; her great grandson, Walter S. Strassburg of Rochester; her sister, Sharlene Rich of Moreau; her brother in law, Ted Collins and his wife, Joanne of Moreau; one aunt, Jeanette Hoag of Hudson Falls as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at a later date, in the spring, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Paul H. Collins, Sr

CollinsMOREAU – Paul H. Collins, Sr., 76, of Moreau, passed away July 9, 2014, at Saratoga Hospital, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born February 17, 1938, in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Sanford E. Collins and Mildred (Ostrander) Collins. in Hudson Falls

He attended and graduated from Hudson Falls High School.  Following high school, Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Korea from 1956 to 1959.

He married Phyllis M. Hoag on June 21, 1959 at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Paul was the proud owner of Paul H. Collins Trucking and The Wayside Tavern, both in Hudson Falls. Paul and Phyllis also were the previous owners of Smoke Rise Campgrounds in Pottersville.

He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge Elks Lodge # 81 of Glens Falls and Queensbury.  Paul enjoyed camping, golfing, NASCAR, snowmobiling and spending time with his family. He was there for anyone in need.  Paul’s generous and caring ways will be remembered by many forever.

Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Sanford A. (Skip) Collins, his sister in law, Jean Collins, his brother in law, Ronald Rich and his mother and father in law, William J (Bill) and Ernestine M. Hoag.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis M. Collins of Moreau; his children, Lori Strassburg and her husband, Walt, Paul H. Collins, Jr., and his wife, Laurie, Brian D. Collins and partner, Kara Moak, all of Moreau; six granchildren, Walter P. Strassburg and his wife, Jennifer of Rochester, Robert Strassburg, Courtney Collins, Cari Collins, Emily Collins and Alyssa Collins, all of Moreau; his great grandson, Walter S. Strassburg of Rochester; his brother, Ted Collins and his wife, Joanne of Moreau; his sister in law, Sharlene Rich of Moreau; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins and his grand dog, Abby, his pride and joy and always by his side.

Paul will be remembered by all for his optimistic and positive attitude throughout his illness.  He will be greatly missed.

Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Gospel Lighthouse Assemblies of God Church on 30 LaCrosse St. in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted at the church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Mead, pastor officiating.

Interment, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 574 of Hudson Falls, will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the excellent doctors, nurses, and receptionist of Saratoga Oncology and Hematology for making him feel so cared for, lifting his spirits, and making him smile at each visit.
