Maryanne Caputo

caputo, maryanneHUDSON FALLS – Maryanne Caputo, Age 75, died on Monday, April 18, 2016 with her family beside her.

She was born in Glens Falls on February 23, 1941 to Henry J. and Catherine R Caputo, who predeceased her.

Maryanne graduated in 1958 from Hudson Falls High School and for a short time attended Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY as a nursing student. She worked at Glens Falls Hospital, and The NY Telephone Company, but was most known as the office manager for her father’s automotive business.  Later in life at the age of 57, she returned to school at Mildred Elly and obtained her certificate in paralegal studies.  She was a volunteer for the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, and also volunteered at the renal dialysis unit at the hospital.  She had completed training to become a High Peaks Hospice volunteer when her illness appeared.

Survivors include her brother Charles (Nancy) Caputo of Hudson Falls and her sister Bernadette (Jim) Costello of Central Square, NY.  She has 5 children, Sherry (Mike) Cleveland of Kingsbury, Mark (Ann) Reynolds of Glen Lake, Catherine (Greg) Grossman of Williamsburg, VA, Matt (Linda) Reynolds of Lake in the Hills, IL and Georgeanne (Gary) Hall of Granville; 11 grandchildren, Gregory, Christopher, Joseph, Dustin, Curtis, Geoffrey, Andrew, Gillian, Gary, Gracie and Carson, all of whom she was most proud of; as well as several nieces, a nephew and cousins.

Family was so important to her.  Her father once said she was the glue that held them all together.  She was most happy when they were all gathered for holidays, Sunday breakfasts, and summer cookouts.  She was always on the phone, talking one person through a crisis, or laughing over a funny tale being told by her brother or one of her children.  In warm weather, she could be found outside on her riding lawnmower, mowing herself or pointing out work to be done by her grandchildren and simply just inspecting the grounds.

Most enjoying to her though, was just lounging on her deck in the sunshine while watching her family splash in the pool.  Always a traveler, she loved the Maine Coast as well as visits to out of town family.

Relatives and friends may call from 11 am to 2 pm Sunday, May 1st at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc.,  68 Main St, Hudson Falls.

Memorial Service and interment will be private and after the calling hours.  Her ashes will be laid to rest next to her parents at St Mary’s Cemetery, in Fort Edward, NY

In lieu of flowers, at her request, donations in her memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute.
