Albert Earl Brownell (Al, Albie)

KINGSBURY – Albert Earl Brownell (Al, Albie), 83, of Kingsbury went to his eternal home on March 31, 2019, with his family by his side, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on May 1, 1935 in Fort Ann, he was the son of the late Alexander “Sandy” and Edith (Granger) Brownell.

On November 3, 1956 he married Sheila Barot in Hudson Falls at St. Paul’s Church.

Albert went to Fort Ann School and proudly graduated from New York State University.

Albert started as a farmer’s helper for Norman Hitchcock. He had successful careers at Ac Warner, Warner Pryne, North Country Woodworking and retired from Finch Pryne after 20 years.

Albert always loved to make people laugh with his great sense of humor. He was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He enjoyed family gatherings and reunions. Albert and Sheila belonged to the Adirondack Bluegrass League and Adirondack Fiddlers and enjoyed bluegrass festivals/ music as well as country music. In his younger years, he kicked up his heels at local square dances and was a proud member of the Carpenter Hose Volunteer Fire Department. Albert loved to keep a well-manicured yard and took great satisfaction in keeping his cars immaculate.

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Sheila; his daughter, Mary Ann Brownell (Jamie Brown); his sisters, Rosella Beebe and Julia Bombard all of Hudson Falls; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Chuck Fuller; very special nephew, Harlis Brownell Jr. and cousin Jeffery and Irma Hamblin; and so many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved.

Albert was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Harlis Sr., Robert, Edward, Theodore and William and his sister Ora Bombard.

A small private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.

A special thank you to Dr. Coppens and his nurse Patti for all the care through the last 6 months. Also the Glens Falls Hospital doctors and nurses in the ER and ICU for their warm and comforting care.

Barbara E. Brownell

BrownellGANSEVOORT – Barbara E. Brownell, 60, of Gansevoort, passed away, on Monday, May 18, 2015, at her home, after a 22 year battle with cancer.

Born October 2, 1954, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Bertha (Hurley) Nash.

She married her husband, Kevin Brownell on August 28, 2004.

Barb was employed for over 20 years at the Wilton Developmental Center until illness forced her to retire.

She and Kevin enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren to places like Hershey, PA, and the seacoast.  Family picnics and Christmas were very important to her. Despite a long battle with cancer, she was a caring and generous person to any one in need.

In addition to her parents, Barb was predeceased by a son, Scott Bushey, her brothers, Gary M. Nash, Sr., Andy Nash and William J. Nash, Sr., her sister, Dottie Whitman and a half bother, Leon Nash.

Survivors in addition to her husband of 10 years, Kevin Brownell of Gansevoort; her sons, Michael Bushey of Fort Edward and Shane Bushey and his wife Tricia of Gansevoort; her grandchildren, Amanda Bushey, Deanna Bushey, Kiana Bushey, Brittany Bushey, Brianna Bushey and Brian Bushey; her brother, James Nash of Fort Edward; her sister Laurene Ringer and her husband, Bill, Sr., of Queensbury; a brother in law, Don Whitman of South Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 pm on Thursday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be conducted 11 am on Friday at Southside Cemetery in the town of Moreau. Deacon Dan Boyd of St. Theresa’s Chapel in Gansevoort, officiating

Barb’s family suggests that memorial donations in her memory be made to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, Randy’s Patient Assistance Fund, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Joan Marie (Hicks) Brownell

BrownelSOUTH GLENS FALLS – Joan Marie (Hicks) Brownell ,74, of Midtown Apartments, passed away unexpectedly, on Friday, September 20th, at her at her home.

Born June, 24, 1939 in Granville, Joan was the daughter of the late Charles Tabor Hicks and Alice Mae (Taylor) Hicks.

Joan attended Fort Ann School.  On July 3, 1964 she married Robert J. Brownell , in Poultney, Vermont.

She loved nature and most of all her family.  She was a member of the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church.

Beside her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Brownell, and her sister, Barbara Liebig.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Brownell of Florida; her siblings, Florence Tomlinson of Salem, Fred Hicks of Gansevoort, and Gretchen Braymer of Granville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

Joan will be laid to rest next to her husband at Gerald B.H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery.
