Emily J. Abbott

AbbottGLENS FALLS – Emily J. Abbott, 93, formerly of Hunter Street in Glens Falls, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.

Born on December 16, 1919 in Granville, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Morrelli) Fragnoli.

Emily was a graduate of Granville High School and for over 40 years, she was happily married to George Abbott.   He passed away in 1995.

In her younger years, Emily was employed at General Electric and later she worked as a lunch lady at St. Mary’s School in Glens Falls.   Along with her husband, Emily owned and operated Abbotts Grocery on Bay Street in Glens Falls for several years. 

She was a devout communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.  Her faith was the cement that kept her life together.  

Her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren, Matt and Mike.   Emily’s family was the height of her life.  Along with her husband, she also enjoyed the sunny days at the Saratoga Racetrack.

Besides her parents and husband, Emily was predeceased by her brothers, Carmen Fragnoli and James Fragnoli and her sisters, Eleanor May, Anna Romano and Rose Fragnoli.

Survivors include her daughter Mary Bartholomew and her husband, Neil of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Matthew Cote and his wife, Nicole of Hundersville, NC and Michael Cody and his wife, Kathryn of Queensbury; her two great grandchildren, Isabella and Ava; her brothers and sisters, Bill Fragnoli, Tony Fragnoli, Jenny Hadeka, Micky Devecchi and Antenette Frandino; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are welcome to call on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, following the calling hour at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. George Antiochian Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

Memorial donations in Emily’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Emily’s family gives a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Holbrook Home in Granville and at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility for the love and kindness given to Emily and her family.
