Shirley (Pratt) Sawyer

Sawyer, ShirleyQUEENSBURY – Shirley (Pratt) Sawyer, 81, of Queensbury, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.

Born on June 8, 1936 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Stella Pratt.

Shirley was a proud member of the first graduating class of Queensbury School System.

On December 24, 1953, she married Robert Sawyer.   He passed away on May 11, 2010, after 56 years of marriage.

Shirley worked at General Electric Company and then retired from Troy Shirt Factory in Glens Falls.

Shirley was a beautiful seamstress and an accomplished painter.   She also enjoyed creating ceramic pieces.   The most important part of her life was sharing her time with her grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Tina Truesdale and her grandson, Andrew Burch.

Survivors include her daughter, Robin McKnight and her husband, Gralen of Pine Bush and daughters, Terra, Tiffany and Toni; her daughter, Lou Haynes and her husband, David of Texas and their children, Corinne and Jameson, her son, Kelly Sawyer and his wife, Cynthia of Hudson Falls and son, Brandon, her son, Robert Sawyer and his wife, Terri of Fort Edward and their sons, Shannon, Colby and Benjamin, and her daughter, Jody Marchese of Hudson Falls and her daughters, Meghan and Katharine; her brothers, Nelson Pratt and his wife, Marge of Queensbury, Eugene Pratt and his significant other, Cindy of Queensbury, Albert Pratt of Rome and Terry Pratt of Hudson Falls; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

No services are scheduled.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, #405, Albany, NY  12205.

Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

    I didn’t know Shirley, but we share the same important values of grandchildren. Ben is an awesome young man. I’m so proud of him.
