Heartfelt condolences to all family members on the passing of Sandy. I had been a shipmate of Gary on the LST 1156 many years ago and through that association learned of his love for Sandy. He always had a picture of his girl friend, Sandy, on his desk in the ship’s office and would return to Hudson Falls on leave to spend time with her. They were very much in love. I had the opportunity to meet Sandy at one of our ship’s reunions in Norfolk in 2009, and then again in 2016 when I was visiting the Lake George area. Having met her, I was struck by her warm personality and subtle sense of humor. She and Gary were the perfect couple, and she was devoted to him and his memory. I was saddened to learn of her passing. She and Gary are together again. Fair winds and following seas.
