Richard Joseph Danahy

QUEENSBURY – Danahy,, Sr., 66, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Monday, September 18, 2017.

Born on May 9, 1951, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Leo and Rita (Metraw) Danahy.

He worked at SCA Tissue for over 40 years. Anyone who knew him knew he was a hard worker.  Richard loved spending time with his family especially camping and fishing with his grandchildren. He also loved cooking and gardening and tooling around the house.

Predeceased by his parents Leo and Rita Danahy and his sons, Rian Danahy and Adam Danahy and the love of his life Ella.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Potter of Waterbury, Ct; his brothers,  Michael Danahy and his wife, Diane of Queensbury, Daniel Danahy of Queensbury; and his children, Merri-Ellen Palmer and her significant other, John Hack of Hudson Falls, Richard Danahy, II of Queensbury, Jeremy Danahy of Queensbury,  Sadie Danahy of Queensbury, and Jodee Danahy and her Fiancé, David Scoville of Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Sara Palmer, Jennifer Palmer, Nathan Palmer, Samuel Easter, Celena Danahy, Ryan Danahy, Nicholas Danahy, Aryan Thompson, Jeremy Danahy Jr, Simon Trombley, Natalee Reynolds, Ryder Scoville and Ella Scoville; his great grandchildren, Lauren Bailey and Adriana Henry; and several nieces and nephews; and the Dean family who he considered his family always.

The Rite of Committal will be conducted 1 pm on Wednesday, September 27, at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

The family would like to thank all of the staff of the CR Woods Cancer Center especially Dr. Stoutenburg, Rebecca and Barb, the staff at Glens Falls Hospital especially the T2 staff and The Community Hospice for their excellent care of our Father.

    Rick, with a heavy heart I say good bye. I will miss your laugh and the twinkle in your eyes when you would tell a joke. Rest in peace.

    So sorry to hear of Ricks passing. He was one of my favorites at the mill. He loved showing me pics of his grandkids when I went to the warehouse for paperwork. Rest easy Warehouse Rick.
