Rebecca S. VanGuilder

VanGuilder, RebeccaGANSEVOORT – Rebecca S. Van Guilder, 59, of Gansevoort, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at her home.

Born on March 3, 1957, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Charles Van Guilder and the late Rosemary (Cleveland) Van Guilder.

Rebecca was a graduate of South Glens Falls High School. She went on to attend Paul Smith’s College and Oral Roberts University.

She retired from the Target warehouse, where she was a packer for 12 years.

Rebecca enjoyed traveling, gardening, her dogs, reading and her faith. She volunteered at the Chapman Historical Museum in Glens Falls, and the Lake George Conservancy where she counted turtles and loons.

In addition to her mother, Rebecca was predeceased by her sister Julia Hamblin.

Survivors include, her father Charles Van Guilder of Queensbury; her sisters, Natalie Hoeppner of DesMoines, Iowa, Laura Van Guilder of Gansevoort, and Monica Hoffmann and her husband, David of Gansevoort; her favorite aunt Elizabeth Hitchcock and her husband, Walter of Gansevoort; and her much loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A memorial service will immediately follow calling hours at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Dufford, officiating..

Burial services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rebecca’s name can be made out to Moreau EMS, 1583 U.S. 9, Fort Edward, NY 12828 or any dog rescue organization of one’s choice.

    My cousin we grew up together and did many journeys together. God only chooses the best to call home. You will be missed dearly. Rest in peace with mom an Julie. I will see you again one day. I love you.

    I will always remember her tinkering in her garden and walking her dogs over to see me and my girls, she was always so sweet and nice to me.( old neighbor) My thoughts are with her family now.
