HUDSON FALLS – Phyllis A. Leary, 72 , of Devine Drive, went into the arms of the Lord, on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born on December 9, 1942 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Lester A. and Theresa (St. Louis) Yarter.

Phyllis attended Hudson Falls High School and on October 14, 1961, she married Robert Leary, Sr.   He passed away on February 25, 2005, after 43 wonderful years of marriage.

For over 20 years, Phyllis worked as a nurse’s aide at West Mount Health Care Facility and for almost 20 years at CR Bard, both in Queensbury.

She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Phyllis loved to cook for her family and friends, always trying out new recipes.  Some turned out wonderful and of course, some were not quite as good.  She also loved doing crossword puzzles and reading mysteries.  Every other Thursday she would love to go to dinner with her retired friends from CR Bard. The center of her life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her sister, Cynthia McCaffery and her husband, John, her brother, Lester A. Yarter, Jr., two great granddaughters, Deliah  Scoville and Emileigh Scoville, her sisters in law, June Zaiko and her husband Francis (Zike), Anita Doran and her husband, Bob,  and Jeanette Lazure, her brother in law, Teamer Lazure and his wife, Pat, and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her children, William Leary and his companion, Mary Lynn Walker of Hudson Falls, David Leary and his companion, Kathy Marr of South Glens Falls, Patti Walkup and her husband, Kevin of Hudson Falls, Robert Leary, Jr. and his companion, Rhonda Steiner of Glens Falls and Lynn Bonilla and her companion, Brian Cole of Glens Falls; her grandchildren, Tom Leary and his companion, Kristy Infield, Jessica Leary and her companion, Ryan Scoville, Sr., Eric Walkup and his fiancée, Teesha, Shauna Leary, Nicholas Walkup, Josh Leary and his companion, KayKay Kearns, Steven Leary, Shawn Leary, Ashlee Fish and her husband, Nate, Kara Leary, Sumar Bieda, Tanna Cole and Tyler Cole; her great grandchildren, William Dingman, Andreau Dingman, Caden Scoville, Camdyn Scoville, Ryan Scoville, Jr., Ava Mae Leary, Landon Wildey, Roary Leary, Vinny Leombruno, Ryder Leary, Trixie Walkup, Tessah Piper, Sylas Piper and Kashton Arquette; her brother in law, Ronald River of TX and Clarence Lazure of FL; her sister in law  Pam Yarter of CT; her aunt, Noella Townstend of Oneonta; her uncle, Leo St. Louis and his wife, Ruth of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her adopted daughter, Linda Tucker and her son, Jason

Calling hours will be on Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Memorial Service will follow the calling hours on Thursday, at 2 pm, at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
