HUDSON FALLS — Phyllis A. (Deyette) Golden, 78, of Hudson Falls, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital, after a short illness, surrounded by her family.

She was born April 22, 1939, a daughter of the late Leon and Louise (Nailor) Deyette.

In her early years, Phyllis worked as a waitress at several local restaurants. She later worked at C.R. Bard until her retirement.

Phyllis married Gilbert Golden in 1964, together they had five children. They spent many wonderful years together until his passing in February 1978.

In 1981, Phyllis met her friend and lifelong companion, Robert J. Gardner Sr. He passed in 1994.

Phyllis will best be remembered for her sense of humor, her quick witted one of a kind smart remarks, her spunky energy, her many one of a kind facial expression, and her love of animals and making sure they were well cared for around the clock. She would say “The grass would never grow under her tires or her feet,” as she was always on the move. She was the type of woman who embraced anyone and everyone, as everyone was considered family in her eyes. She was a truly remarkable woman who will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Her hobbies included volunteering at the American Legion Post 574 in Hudson Falls, gardening, shopping, cooking for family, caring for animals, and Saturday evening gatherings with family and friends.

Besides her parents, husband, and life companion, she was predeceased by her brothers, Leon Deyette, Jack Deyette, Alex Deyette and Robert Deyette; sisters, Shirley Jarvis, Bettyann Springer, Joan Dagget, Barbara Barrows and Nancy Gifford; a son, Jay Golden; a granddaughter, Samantha Streeter; a mother-in-law, Henrietta Golden; and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Streeter.

Survivors include her brother, Tom (Paula) Deyette; sisters, Sondra (Joe) Michaud, Darlene Davis and Candy (Maurice) St. Marie; her sons, Michael (Laurie) Streeter and Jon (Brenda) Streeter; her daughter, Beth (Tim) Bailey; her daughter-in-law, Jenni Oddy Lee; grandchildren, Jon E. Streeter, Christopher Streeter, Michael L. Streeter, Rebecca Streeter, Jolene Murray, Heidi Sullivan, Andrew Lee, Allison Golden, Jay Golden, Jr., Adam Golden and Jade Golden; four great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Oct. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc.,68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Following the services, family and friends are invited for a celebration of life gathering at the American Legion Post 574, 72 Pearl St., Hudson Falls.

Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

In honor of her memory, donations may be made to the SPCA of Upstate New York or a local animal shelter of one’s choice; or to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Grubbs, Dr. Kamal, Dr. Van Auken, and the staff of 3W and tower 2 of the Glens Falls Hospital, for all their care and support.

Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.
