HUDSON FALLS – Nathan J. Tyminski of Hudson Falls, passed away Friday morning, April 22, 2022.

Born on September 21, 1989 in Glens Falls, he lived in the area his entire life and was the son of Joseph Tyminski and Nancy (Lasher) Godbout.

Nate was a 2007 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and attended Adirondack Community College. He worked at Color-aid in Hudson Falls for several years.

Nate was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He often would attend sporting events with his closest friends, supporting their children and cheering them on. Nate was an animal lover and liked to fish and camp and ride his four-wheeler, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his niece. He loved to create crazy food concoctions that almost always included cheese and tasted great. He will always be remembered as having a way about him that made people laugh.

He is predeceased by his uncle, Gerald “Buddy” Lasher; his maternal grandparents, Gerald and Sharon Lasher; and his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Ada Tyminiski.

Nate is survived by his parents, Joseph Tyminski of Hudson Falls and Nancy Godbout (David) of Florida; his brother, Nicholis Tyminski of Hudson Falls; his sister, Calista Dallas (James) of Florida; his niece, Caliana Dallas and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

GLENS FALLS/NEWARK – Catherine “Cathy” Mary (Pizzirusso) DePalo, 60, of Glens Falls, passed away April 20, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Newark, NY to the late Anthony and Nancy (Bartle) Pizzirusso.

Cathy was a 1979 graduate of Newark High School and later graduated from SUNY Oswego. She moved to Glens Falls after college and was employed at TV Data/Tribune for many years as an editor and accountant.

Cathy enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family especially the lights of her life, her son Joe and grandson Beau, who provided much needed joy and inspiration.

She is survived by her devoted and loving boyfriend, Frank Usher, who was her caregiver for the entirety of her illness; her sons, Joseph (Mallory) DePalo, Paul (Meghan) Richardson; her siblings, Ann (Hal) Reinhardt, Mitch (Rebecca) Pizzirusso, Rocco Pizzirusso, Theresa (Gary) Lee; her half siblings, Joseph DiSanto and Terri (Ron) Smith; her grandchildren, Sadie, Millie and Beau; two nieces, one nephew, two great-nephews and two great-nieces.

HUDSON FALLS – Staff Sergeant Allan F. Sutliff, 80, of Dix Ave. was assigned to his final deployment on Friday morning, April 22, 2022.

Born on March 6, 1942 in Hudson Falls, he was a life-long resident and son of the late Frank and Helen (Dennison) Sutliff. Al attended Fort Ann High School. He married Millie Baker on Sept.14, 1962 and they enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage together.

Al was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany and in many stations stateside, including West Point.  After being honorably discharged from active duty, he enlisted in the New York Army National Guard and served until his retirement in 2002, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a proud recipient of several awards including the Duty in Aid of Civil Authority Medal, TF Placid Service Medal, Military Commendation Medal, and the Medal for Humane Service.

Al was employed for 31 years as a heavy equipment operator for the town of Kingsbury Highway Department and was a charter member of the Kingsbury Hose Company and former Chief of the Fire Police.

He loved spending time with his family and vacationing in Maine and enjoyed sampling craft beers and the occasional bourbon. Al was an avid and dedicated Los Angeles Dodgers fan and loved the New York Giants.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Millie Sutliff; his three daughters, Helen (Jack), of Fort Ann, Susan (Patrick), of South Glens Falls and Catherine (Brian) of Hudson Falls; three brothers, Arthur Sutliff of Schuylerville, NY, Frank Sutliff of Stillwater, OK, and Milton Sutliff of Oklahoma City, OK; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

GLENS FALLS – Allen “Digger” O’Dell, Jr., 83, passed away April 21, 2022, at Granville Center in Granville.

A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted Thursday, April 28, 2022, 1 p.m., at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

HUDSON FALLS – Delilah Chesterman, 71, passed away peacefully at Haynes House of Hope in Granville on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Born April 22, 1950, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Virginia (Jakway) Harrington.

Delilah was a 1968 graduate of Hudson Falls High School. 

On November 5, 1977, she married Robert Chesterman.  They enjoyed 40 years of marriage together before his passing in June of 2017.

Delilah worked at Glens Falls and Continental Insurance Co. from 1968 to 1976.  She spent her time volunteering for Catholic Charities for 13 years.  She and her husband, Robert, were named volunteers of the year in 2007 and attended a dinner hosted by Bishop Howard Hubbard.

She was a long-time communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls where she volunteered, was a cantor and a chair member. 

Delilah enjoyed music, playing the piano, auto-harp and harp.  She also enjoyed restoring antiques and sewing.  Along side her husband, they traveled to 49 states, all the major National Parks throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, Italy and a 25^th Anniversary Cruise. 

Besides her parents and husband, Delilah was predeceased by her 3-year-old son, Shawn and her stepdaughter, Connie Newell.

Survivors include her brother, Daniel Harrington and his wife, Eve; her sisters, Rebecca Habshi, Jill Welch and her husband, Kevin; her granddaughter, Shauna Newell; her two nieces, Erin Flewelling and her husband, Jake and Elizabeth Backus and her husband, Tyler, as well as several great nephews.

Friends may call Tuesday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

HUDSON FALLS – Deborah “Chicky” Carol (Allen) Perkins of Hudson Falls was surrounded by her family as she succumbed to a short fight with pancreatic cancer on April 15, 2022. She was 67. 

Debbie was born December 2, 1954 at Glens Falls Hospital to the late Raymond Allen and Henrietta (TerSla) Allen Morris. She was raised in Hudson Falls, with her five siblings: “Dinny” (Henry) Allen, William “Billy” Allen, Donald Allen, Judy Mackey, and Janet Allen. 

She was the most amazing and devoted spouse to David Jon Perkins of Greenwich, NY who she wed on December 9, 1972 in a beautiful ceremony at the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church. Debbie retired as a mortgage broker from Beneficial Finance in Glens Falls. Dave is a retired teacher from the Hudson Falls Public School District. Together they raised their daughters, Jennifer (Julian Sciolla) Perkins and Valerie (Justin) Chapman, who kept their lives busy and full with activities, sports, and musicals. As a family they enjoyed snowmobiling and are active members of the Barnstormers Snowmobile Club and the New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA).

She was active in Order of the Eastern Star Triangle Fides Chapter 24 based in Glens Falls. She was a Beloved Queen in 1970, and she remained an advisor to the chapter for several years after.

Debbie and Dave are both active members of the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church. Not only were they married there, but their daughters and grandchildren were also baptized there. Debbie helped organize summer Vacation Bible School, the Back-to-School Backpack Drive, served on the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, arranged flowers and altar decorations, served luncheons during the Lent season, and helped in any way she could be of service to the church and community. You can continue to see her small deeds at work every spring as the tulips she planted in front of the building bloom near the welcome sign. 

A proud graduate of Hudson Falls High School, she had been instrumental in making sure the class of 1972 had several successful class reunions. 

Debbie enjoyed baking and cooking with her five grandchildren, James, Alexandra, Orrin, Ella and Thomas. She was bestowed the title of “Grand-smother Extraordinaire” and lived up to that title everyday in word and deed. She was a constant cheerleader; celebrating and supporting all of her family’s proud moments in any way that she could. Whether making costumes, set pieces and props for theater productions or helping make a space look and feel special, Debbie was always finding ways to put her creative skills to use in the service of others. 

Debbie had a knack for making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. She was accepting and kind, with the warmest smile. Debbie gave herself, her time, and her heart to anyone in need without question, hesitation, or judgment. All who knew her were touched by her generosity, and devoted spirit.

Her unwavering faith and devotion, strength and determination, gumption and fun-loving attitude carried her through her life, and especially in her final days. The members of the Allen and Perkins families will feel the loss of her presence and miss her deeply. Her family has been moved and uplifted by the outpouring of love from her friends, extended family and community as they have visited to share their love, stories, and well-wishes.

The family would like to extend their thanks to High Peaks Hospice, the nursing staff at Glens Falls Hospital, and her church family for their love and support.

Friends may call on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church, 227 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at the church. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately following the services.

HUDSON FALLS – Robert B. “Sippy” Sipowicz, Jr., 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born June 9, 1956, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Robert B. and Helen P. Sipowicz, Sr.

Sippy was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and then attended Post University in Connecticut, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in business.

For many years, Sippy owned and operated Bob’s Grocery in Hudson Falls.   After the sale of the grocery store, he then worked and retired from C.R. Bard.

Sippy was a big sports fan.  He would frequently umpire at the local areas school girls softball games and also officiated the girls basketball games.  Sippy enjoyed both hockey and baseball and was a fan of the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox.  His home was always filled with the sound of Bruce Springsteen. Most importantly, Sippy loved his grandchildren and enjoyed their company.

Survivors include his children, Cameron Sipowicz (Gabrielle) of Argyle, Andrew Sipowicz of Hartford and Carly Sipowicz (Matt Ploof) of Hartford; his dear friend, J.R. Diamond; his grandchildren, Cameron, Avery-Rose, Gannon, Grayson, Ariel and Ruth as well as his sister, Helen Marie Sipowicz of Colorado.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Wayside Inn, 3130 Route 4 in in Hudson Falls.

QUEENSBURY – Frederick Oliver Bannon, 62 of Queensbury, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022.

Born in Glens Falls on February 3, 1960, Fred was the son of the late Samuel E. Bannon and Jeannette P. (King) Bannon. 

Fred recently retired from Target Distribution Ctr. After many years of service.  Fred was also a 25-year member of the West Glens Falls Fire House.  He also ran several businesses up until his passing.   

Whether it was his brothers at the firehouse, friends and family or just those around him Fred left a positive mark on anyone he was around. 

In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his sister, Pamela Bannon, brother-in-law, Frederick King and brother, Joseph Bannon and his beloved dog, Baby. 

Survivors include two sisters, Debra King and Cynthia Davis (Harold Nash); four brothers, Leslie Bannon (Phyllis), Thomas Bannon (Martha), Edward Bannon (Carolyn) and John Davis; nieces and nephews, Ashley, Jared, Katlyn, Megan, Samuel, Erin, Rebecca, Melissa, Angela, Rosebelle and Lucas; Along with several second-degree nieces and nephews; and special friends,  Mike Donnelly, Debbie and Steve Bullard, Jeff and Irma Hamblin and Tyson Converse, whom Fred had the privilege of mentoring throughout his firefighting career.   

Calling hours will be on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the West Glens Falls Fire House at 33 Luzerne Rd, Queensbury, NY 12801.

There will be a celebration of life immediately following the calling hours at the Firehouse.

HUDSON FALLS – Dorothy Grace “Dot” Leppard, 89 of Hudson Falls, Passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 9, 2022 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Born on January 29, 1933 in Glens Falls, Dot was a life-long area resident and one of 14 children of the late John W. and Geneva (LaFarr) Leppard.

Affectionately known to multiple generations of nieces and nephews as “Aunt Dottie”, she was always available with a ready smile and caring heart to fill in wherever needed. Whether it was babysitting, caning, freezing, Dot gladly pitched in. Dot enjoyed time with family and she enjoyed many activities. Among them were fishing, bowling, playing softball (she and her sisters made up their own team lol), and playing cards.

Dot took care of her Mom for many years through multiple moves to different apartments, caring for her needs until her Mom passed. In addition to caring for family, Dot was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s church where she attended regularly until she was no longer able to get there.

“Aunt Dottie” will be greatly missed by many with her giving heart and infectious giggle being remembered by all. She is predeceased by her parents and her 13 siblings and survived by several generations of nieces and nephews.

HUDSON FALLS – Janice Newcomb, 97, of Dean Road, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, April 7, 2022 at her home with her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Petey at her side.

Born on January 10, 1925 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Irving Griffing and Edith Pearl (Washburn) Hamilton.

Janice loved spending time as a volunteer at Glens Falls Hospital. She worked in the coffee shop there and always took care of the medical staff when they came in for coffee and a snack. She loved to read and enjoyed baking and cooking. Spending her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest love.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Douglas H. Newcomb; her daughter, Carol Sutton; and a sister, Eleanor.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Harrington; her grandchildren, Nicole Salone (Josh) of Queensbury, and Jennifer Paradis of Fort Edward; her great-grandchildren, Devon, Olivia, Ashana, Dravin, Karleah, Silas and Niko; and her great-great granddaughter, Nova.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Oneida Community Church, 197 Sunnyside Road in Queensbury.

Janice will be laid to rest with her Husband, Douglas, in a private ceremony at the convenience of the family in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

HUDSON FALLS – Patricia W. Hassett, 90, a longtime Notre Dame St. resident, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 8, 2022 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on January 25, 1932, in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Marion (Bottoms) Winters.

She was a graduate of West Chester, PA High School and attended Vermont Junior College in Montpelier, VT.

On January 24, 1953, she married Don G. Hassett in West Chester, PA.

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson Falls, and a past member of the Kiwanis Club and The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Glens Falls. Patricia was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Women’s Breakfast Group as well.

She enjoyed time she spent with her family and was active in the Hudson Falls community. The Hassett Memorial Day parties were well known in the neighborhood.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Donald G. Hassett, who passed away November 15, 2020.

Survivors include her children, Debra Cirino and her husband, Bill of Hartford, Linda Muller and her husband, Mark of Ravena, Dale Hassett and his wife, Jeanne of Delmar and Sandra Peters and her husband, John of Orlando, FL; their grandchildren, Bethany Cirino, Christopher Rees, Patricia Rees, Molly Hassett, Morgan Peters, Kyle Peters and Kurt Peters and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery on Duell Rd in Schuylerville.

HUDSON FALLS – Yvonne Theresa Charon Griffin, 92 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 5, 2022.

Born August 17, 1929 in Beaver Falls, PA, Yvonne was the youngest child of Amil and Mary (Mayou) Charon.

She was a 1948 graduate of St. Peters High School in Saratoga Springs.  Yvonne met the love of her life William T. Griffin and they married and moved to Hudson Falls where they raised their three children in the house they built together. 

Yvonne worked in various administrative jobs, but her true passions were homemaking and the caregiving of others. She truly loved sharing her culinary delights with all who entered her home. There was an open-door policy, all were welcome. She loved animals especially dogs and horses. 

Yvonne was very creative and talented. She was an excellent seamstress and had a French weaving business while raising her children. She also enjoyed refinishing furniture, restoring its beauty and functionality. Yvonne was a very independent person.

She was very active in the Catholic Church, teaching Catechism, and was involved in the renewal. Yvonne’s strong, unshakable faith sustained her throughout her entire life. 

In addition to her parents and siblings, she was predeceased by her husband, William T. Griffin, who passed away in 1985.

Yvonne is survived by her children, Thomas Griffin (Joannie), Marty Griffin (Pete Shortell), and Barbara Griffin-Jordan (Michael); 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Dube, Sarah Miner, Luke Griffin, and Alicia Bevan; 6 great-grandchildren, Desteny Dube, Camryn and Jacob Miner, Logan and Aiden Bevan and Isaac Griffin; 3 great, great-granddaughters BellaRose, Auroroa and Zaylah.

A funeral service will be conducted, 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls with the Reverend David Noone, a longtime family friend, officiating.

Friends may call on Monday evening from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, following the services.

Rite of Committal will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mihindu, the staff at Fort Hudson Day Program and the staff at McCann’s Pharmacy. A very heartfelt thanks to the team of caregivers who helped us keep her in her beloved home; Sherry, Rodonna, Vivian, Lynn, Colleen, and Joannie, as well as friends and neighbors; Judy, Susan, and John Wells.

HUDSON FALLS – Tiffany L. (Nash) Ross, 40, of Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer, on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Albany Medical Center.

Tiffany attended Hudson Falls High School and then went on to receive her PCA Certificate through Fort Hudson Nursing Home, where she continued her career as a PCA.  She really enjoyed working in the nursing field.

On December 27,  2017, Tiffany married John Ross, III in her mother’s home, officiated by her sister, Tamika and surrounded by family.

Family was Tiffany’s world.  She was a great mother, who took wonderful care of her autistic son, Charles.  Tiffany was very social and always loved having company, especially family.  She also enjoyed the outdoors, where she spent a lot of time camping and fishing.

Tiffany was also a very talented crafter who turned her extra bedroom into a craft room.  She helped her son start his own business making personalized stickers.  Tiffany also enjoyed teaching her nieces how to crochet.

Tiffany was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Leon Nash, her step grandfather, Raymond Young, her aunt, Brandy Nash and her cousin, Ashley Nash.

Tiffany is survived by her mother, Cassie Nash; her husband, John Ross, III; two sons, Charles Nash and Joe Charland; her step-son, Andrew Ross; her grandmother, Gloria Young; her two sisters, Tamika Casey and Kelliann (Cody) Rogers; her nieces and nephews, Hailie and Kassandra Casey, Rebecca Charland, Maddison Baker and Dakota Nash; her two uncles, Leon (Tammy) Nash, II and Ervin (Billie) Nash; and her best friend, who was like a sister to her, Melissa (William) Beadleson; her brother in laws, Robert Ross, Larry Ross, George (Heather) Siacca; and her sisters in law, Mickie Alexander and Sharla (Ron) Szymaszek.
