Norma R. Barrett

BarrettHUDSON FALLS – Norma R. Barrett, 87, of LaCrosse Street, went to be with her family in heaven, on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born March 14, 1926 in Diamond Point, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Pauline (Wood) Dutcher.

Norma was very proud to have graduated from Bolton Landing High School as Valedictorian.  She had a passion for learning throughout her life and it was very important that all seven of her children graduate and continue with productive lives.

In September of 1944, Norma married Frank L. Barrett, Sr., in Hartford.  Frank passed away, in 1993, after almost 50 years of marriage.

For 44 years, Norma was employed at J&J Lingerie in Glens Falls as a seamstress.  She loved all kinds of sewing.  Norma made beautiful curtains, table cloths, Halloween outfits for the grandchildren, as well as Barbie outfits.  She also enjoyed swimming and tending to her flower gardens.  Norma was an independent woman whose family was her life.

Beside her parents and husband, Norma is predeceased by her daughter, Connie Anderson, and her son in law, Peter Georgi.

Survivors include her six children, Frank Barrett and his wife, Carol of Laguna Vista, TX, Tom Barrett and his wife, Susan of Whitehall, Merry Irwin and her husband, Samuel of Hartford, Eva Georgi of FL, Pat Nassivera and her husband, Roland of Hudson Falls, and Steve Barrett of Hudson Falls; her 17 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; her sisters; nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved cat, Stubby.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be conducted later in the spring.

Donations in memory of Norma can be made to SPCA, of Upstate NY, P.O. Box 171, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
