Michael R. Clum

Clum, MichaelHUDSON FALLS – Michael R. Clum, 65, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward, after a battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born on April 13, 1951 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late George and Leonora (Fitzpatrick) Clum.

Michael was a proud 1971 graduate of South Glens Falls High School.

On August 9, 1975, he married Patricia Naylor at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

He was a very hard worker, who sometimes held two or three jobs at a time to provide for his family.  For over 25 years, Michael was employed as an assistant manager and head of maintenance at Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge.  Through the years, he worked various other jobs in the field of maintenance.

Michael was known by his beloved nieces as “Michael Michael Motorcycle” because of his love of riding his motorcycle.  He could be seen riding his Goldwing motorcycle the very second the last snowflake melted until the first snowflake flew.  Michael also enjoyed working on anything mechanical in his spare time.   He could be described as “jack of all trades, master of none.”  Michael could fix anything including his motorcycles.  He was very generous with his time.  He would be there at the drop of a hat to help anyone fix anything.

The most important part of his life was his family.  He was a wonderful husband and father and will be greatly missed.  Through the years, Michael also became extremely close to his wife’s family.  He loved her siblings and many times acted as a father figure to his sisters in law.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Linda DuFour and Joan Rivers, his brother, Peter G. Clum and his father in law and mother in law, Robert and Ann Naylor.

Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia Clum of Hudson Falls; his children, Robyn Clum Granger and her husband, Paul of Glens Falls and Casey Clum and his wife, Susan of Queensbury; his two sisters, Marion Kohls of Queensbury and Virginia Boisclair of South Glens Falls; his two brothers, Thomas Clum of Queensbury and his twin brother, David Clum of Panama City, FL; several brothers in law and sisters in law; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Celebration of Michael’s life will follow the calling hours at 5 p.m., on Friday, at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility for their compassion and the kind, gentle care they gave Michael and his family.

Donations in his memory may be made to Fort Hudson Health Care Facility, 319 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY  12828.
