Eagle 1HUDSON FALLS -Margaret E. Eagle (“Peg”), 88, passed away peacefully on July 31,2015 at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home in Hudson Falls.

Born on May 13, 1927 to Edward and Aurilla (Havens) McGinnis in their home on 20 Baker Street in Hudson Falls, Peg was the oldest of ten children. Her whole life Peg worked and  took care of others.  Peg had a lot of responsibility helping her mother care for her siblings as a child. She also was a neighborhood babysitter while in grade school and while in high school she worked as a soda jerk at Baker’s Drug store in Hudson Falls. She graduated from Hudson Falls High School where she was the Prom queen who dated a football player, Charles “Chuck” Eagle. Like so many during World War II, Chuck went into service right out of high school  and Peg waited for him to return from the Pacific to get married in 1947 in her parent’s back yard. Their special day was celebrated in classic Irish style with a keg of beer, a bouquet of daisies and their closest friends and family.

Peg started working right out of high school as a mailroom clerk for Imperial Wallpaper Company in Glens Falls and was promoted many times until she retired as a company buyer from what became known as Ciba-Geigy. Although she worked outside the home her whole life, her main priority was always her three children, Charles (Tod), David, and Dianne. Peg was a communicant at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls and volunteered for the Glens Falls Hospital Guild for many years. She and Chuck were fortunate to have many close friends they enjoyed being with, whether it was playing golf at the Tee Bird Country Club, playing cards in bridge club, dancing at the Cosmopolitan Club, or going on Caribbean cruises. Peg especially cherished her time at the family cottage on Dunham’s Bay on Lake George in the summer where she enjoyed great memories with her children and grandchildren. Peg’s tireless work ethic, dedication to family and enjoyment of the simple things in life were a real inspiration to her children. She will be dearly missed and always a part of our lives. We love you Meme.

Besides her husband, Peg was predeceased by her infant sister, Helen Clare, and brothers Edward, Robert,Richard, and John McGinnis.

Survivors include her children, Charles Tod Eagle and his wife Maura of Rochester, David A. Eagle and his wife Leslie of Lake George and Dianne Leonelli and her husband Chuck of Lake George. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Alyson and Lauren Eagle; Brook (Victoria) and Jessica Eagle; and Megen and Scott Krohn and Alex and Colin Leonelli and three precious great grandchildren, Patrick, Max and Kaiana.

She also leaves behind a brother Paul (Betty) McGinnis in Illinois, and sisters Phyllis (Edward) LaPann,  Susan (Lauren) Palmer of Hudson Falls and Marilyn Riganti of Albany in addition to many, many nieces and nephews living across the country.

There will be calling hours at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls on Monday, August 3rd from 5 p.m.to 7 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls on  Tuesday, August 4th at 10:00 a.m. o’clock.

Interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fort Hudson Nursing Home, 319 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY. or the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.Box 4091, Queensbury, New York 12804 .

Her children so appreciated the support and care she received at Fort Hudson during the last few difficult years of her Alzheimer’s disease. Special thanks to the many caregivers and nurses that looked after our mother for over three years. It made our lives easier knowing she was in loving hands.

Tina and I were so saddened to learn of the loss of your mom. We can readily identify with not only her demise but also with dealing with the dreaded diagnosis of Alzheimer’s as it impacts on almost every family. We all have only one mom and that loss is always devastating regardless of the circumstances. Please know that you and yours are in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Mike and Tina Crook

    Diane and Family,
We just learned of Peg’s passing and want to express our condolences to you and your family. I will have such warm memories of her Lake George moments with us! The dogs she would bring down to the camp when visiting Mary (my mom) and hearing her laughter over either a drink or a cup of coffee with my parents. I always admired her decorating taste also on that camp! I wanted to turn her loose on ours. Again, our sympathies to you at this difficult time.
