John J. Coon

coonGLENS FALLS – John J. Coon, age 73, of Glens Falls, passed away on Sunday October 30, 2016, at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.

Born on May 24, 1943, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Osborn) Coon.

John was a graduate of Glens Falls High School.

He served in the US Navy from 1961 – 1966.

John was an avid New York Yankee’s Fan. He loved spending time with his grandsons. John was fun loving and always going for a laugh.  He will be remembered for being a consummate prankster.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife Joan Coon.

He is survived by his four children, Cindy Hemphil, Joe Coon, Bill Coon (Theresa Passino), and Leslie Coon; his nine grandchildren; his siblings, Carolyn Ernst and her husband, Bob, Lorraine Conklin, Pat Center, and Henriette Bailey; his former wife and friend, Rosemary Coon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday November 3, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church on Warren Street in Glens Falls.

The Rite of Committal with full military honors will follow on Thursday, at 12 noon at the Gerald B. H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Stillwater.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carleton Funeral Home, inv., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.
