Joan M. Rivers

RiversGLENS FALLS – Joan Clum Rivers, 78, a longtime Glens Falls resident, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Stanton Healthcare Facility in Queensbury.

Born on August 6, 1934, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late George and Leonora (Fitzpatrick) Clum.

She went to work for the SS Kresge Company in Glens Falls at the age of 17 and remained with them, K-Mart and Super K-Mart for nearly 50 years.  She was promoted to Resident Assistant Manager in the 60’s and had many jobs over the years.

Joan’s favorite past time was playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Francis Rivers and a sister Linda Clum Dufour who passed away Oct. 19, 2012.

Survivors include her son, Mark D. Rivers of Glens Falls; her twin sister Marion Kohls of Queensbury; a sister, Virginia Boisclair and her husband, Norman of South Glens Falls; her brothers Peter Clum and his wife, Linda of Gansevoort, Thomas Clum and his wife, Terri of Queensbury, David Clum and his wife, Vicki of Florida and Michael Clum and his wife Patti of Hudson Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Southside Cemetery in the town of Moreau.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Joan’s family would like to thank the staff of East wing and the many friends and staff from all the wings that Joan visited at the Stanton. .  Special thanks also to the Activities Department there for their thoughtfulness to Joan.

    I am so sorry to hear of Joan”s passing. I worked with her at Greenwich Kmart.She was the sweetest & most kind person you could meet. May her memories help you through this very hard time. God Bless You.
