James Edward “Chico” Currie, Sr.

Currie FD CurrieHUDSON FALLS & POMONA PARK, FL – James Edward “Chico” Currie, Sr., 74, of Hudson Falls and Pomona Park, FL, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015, surrounded by his family in the home he built, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born September 7, 1940, in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of the late Donald and Claire (Dempsey) Currie.

On November 17, 1962, he married Bonnie Chase at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.  She passed away January 25, 2007.

He retired from Ringers Sales and Service in Hudson Falls.  Jim enjoyed hunting, deer watching in Fort Ann and especially spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and family.  He was a lifelong member of the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Co., past chief of the department.

Survivors include his children, James Currie of Chicago, IL, Cathy Flewelling of Glens Falls, Thomas Currie of South Glens Falls, Susan Currie Fields and her husband, Stephen of Charlotte NC, TJ Currie and his wife Nhong of Hudson Falls, Andrew Currie and his wife, Amanda of Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Michael Currie, Chase Flewelling, Celia Mulcahy, M. Tommy Currie; four great grandchildren; his brothers, John “Jack” Currie and his wife, Lara of Queensbury, G. Michael Currie and his wife, Joan of Warrensburg, Donald Currie of Watertown; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dear friend, Barbara Farley of Pomona Park, FL.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kingsbury Fire House on Burgoyne Avenue in Hudson Falls.

Services and burial will be private.

The Currie Family would like to thank the staff at High Peaks Hospice, Dr. Donald Merrihew and the many family members and friends who made Jim’s final weeks so comfortable.

Instead of flowers, Jim’s family suggests memorial donations be made to the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Co., 3715 Burgoyne Ave., Hudson Falls, New York 12839  or High Peaks Hospice and Palliative Care, 79 Glenwood Ave., 2nd Floor, Queensbury, New York 12804.
