Irene E. Sherman

Sherman, IreneHUDSON FALLS – Irene E. Sherman, 83, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015, at the Orchard in Granville.

Born on August 30, 1932, in Argyle, she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Ketchum) Reid.

On June 4, 1949, she married Edward J. Sherman at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

She was a Communicant of the St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Hudson Falls.

Mrs. Sherman was the secretary for Ed Sherman Plumbing and Heating in Hudson Falls.

She loved golf and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Sherman, her granddaughter, CherylAnn Sherman and her sister, Marion Nelson.

Survivors include her son George Sherman of Girard, PA, and his daughters, Katie and Carrie; her daughter, Jo-Ann Hayes and her husband, Benjamin, of Hudson Falls, and her children, Jennifer Peterson and her husband, John of Broomfield, CO and Edward DePalo and his wife, Jessica, of Hudson Falls; her great grandchildren, Tara DePalo, Gianna DePalo, Henry Peterson and Reid Peterson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Union Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward.

It was Mrs. Sherman’s wish that memorial donations be made to the Orchard Nursing and Rehab Center, 10421 NY-40, Granville, NY 12832.

Irene’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Orchard Nursing and Rehab Center A Wing, the Glens Falls Hospital Emergency Room and 3 West B at the Glens Falls Hospital, for all their care and compassion.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

    Joe & I were saddened to hear about Irene passing. She and Ed were friends and golfing buddies years back and we so enjoyed our time with them both. Please accept our deepest sympathy to your family for your loss. They were so proud of their family.
