Edward “Ed” H. Maynard Sr.

Maynard, EdwardHUDSON FALLS – Edward “Ed” H. Maynard Sr., of Liberty Place, went into the arms of the Lord, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born on April 17, 1943 in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Edgar Maynard and Edith Maynard Fero

Ed is survived by his wife, Lorraine Bovair Maynard, whom he married on November 30, 1963. They shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.

He is also survived by his children, Edward Maynard Jr, Wendy Maynard and Alice Maynard; his son-in-law, Rick Whitmore; his daughter-in-law, Susan Lake; his grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Aidan, Duncan, Dylan, and Sebastian; and his sister, Mary Ordway and her son, Brad.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his in-laws, Harold and Alice Hall; two sons, Douglas and Timothy and his special cousin, Dick Duprey.

Ed enjoyed dancing, hunting, being a mechanic, catering, motorcycling and being a photographer.  He was known for being well dressed and always smelling good.  Ed was referred to as the “Candy Man”, always able to supply an Atomic Hot Ball but kind enough to carry mints, as an option.  Most important was his love for his family.

As a young man, he worked for Queensbury Motors and Sperry Trucks.  In 2003, he retired from Finch Pruyn, after 33 years.

Ed belonged to the Hudson Falls Fish & Game Club, the Hudson Falls Pistol League, and was an Americade volunteer for 28 years.  He and his wife, Lorraine were longstanding members of the GWRRA (Gold Wing Road Riders Association) with Chapter J and most recently, Chapter N.

Staying true to his strong personality, he fought hard until the end.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Monday, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward, where he will be laid to rest next to his sons.

Following the cemetery service, everyone is welcome to McManus Hall to celebrate Ed’s lfe.

The family would like to thank Dr. Amy Hogan-Moulton, Dr. Lance Sullenberger, Dr. James O’Brien, the nurses at Albany Med CCU and High Peaks Hospice.

    Lorraine, and family,
    So sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. Ed was one of the good guys I enjoyed being around at Americade, and the Adirondack Riders bingo runs. He will be missed. He was a big part of the Americade family. Please accept my condolences and sympathy.
