Deborah Lynn Mattison

mattison-deborahFORT EDWARD – Deborah Lynn Mattison, 63, of Fort Edward, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 26, 2016, surrounded by her husband and children, after fighting a long battle of illness, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. 

Born July 25, 1953, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late William and Emerentienne (Prevost) Miner. 

Debbie attended Hudson Falls Central School. 

On August 1, 1970, she married Douglas Paul Mattison in Hudson Falls. In their 46 years of marriage, he fondly called her ‘Gert.’ 

Debbie worked at Chase Bag, formerly in Hudson Falls and Angio Dynamic, and was also a home health aide for many years. 

She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, having gatherings at their home, and she loved her Pepsi. 

In addition to her parents, Deborah was predeceased by her sister Donna Bapp. 

Survivors include her husband, Douglas Paul Mattison; her children: Becky (Jim) Shewell, Doug (Amy) Mattison, Tammy (Kevin) Barrows, and Andy Mattison; her siblings: Connie (Chuck) Szostack of NC, Cindy (Jim) Perkins of Hudson Falls, Darlene (Brian) Miner of Hudson Falls, Joann (Jim) Murphy of Queensbury, and Bill Miner of Glens Falls; her grandchildren: Will Knapp, Alyssa Knapp, Masen Barrows, Brianna Underwood, Cameron Underwood, Olivia Underwood, and Tiffany Mattison; One great-granddaughter, Marisella Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. 

A prayer will be said by the Rev. Jeff Palmer, from Community hospice, at the family home at 11 a.m. on Saturday (Dec. 3, 2016), at the home of her daughter and son in law Tammy and Kevin Barrows, on Route 4 in the town of Fort Edward. The family will also receive friends at their home following the prayers. 

Donations in Debbie’s name can be made out to Community hospice, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. The family would like to thank Community Hospice and the staff of HCR for all they to support and care for her. 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.
