Daniel H. Havens

Havens, DanielHUDSON FALLS – Daniel H. Havens, 74, of Hudson Falls and Indian River Nursing Facility in Granville, went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, May 27, 2013, after complications from a surgery.

Born on May 15, 1939, he was the only son of seven children of the late Ralph and Mary (Keating) Havens. He was born with polio, but overcame some of his disabilities by being a very hard working person. Dan attended Hudson Falls High School and worked for Maplewood Dairy for many years until it changed hands to VanAernem’s Dairy, retiring in the spring of 2012. He always walked to wherever he had to go.

Dan loved sports, reading the Daily News for sport results, scratch off tickets, feeding his pet squirrels and he loved drinking Pepsi. He was so proud to be a member of the Monsignor Arthur S. Kiffin Council 296 Knights of Columbus in Hudson Falls and an usher at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls. Dan was well known by many. He frequented Cumby’s in Hudson Falls, the Corner Diner, Fish Fry Café and the customers he met when delivering milk to businesses. Dan will be greatly missed by all.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Judy Kibling.

Survivors include his siblings, Rita Kibling and her husband, Bob of Medical Lake, WA, Flossie Hobbs and her late husband, Hermann of Gansevoort, Sandra Hobbs and her husband, Earl of South Glens Falls, Barbara Fontaine and her husband, Chris of Fort Edward and Anna Dowling and her husband, George of Victory Mills; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. Prayers for Dan will be said at 7 p.m. following the calling hours, at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will be at 11a.m. on Friday at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Monsignor Arthur S. Kiffin Council 296 Knights of Columbus, 188 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839 or St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, 11 Wall Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
