Charles Blaine Carpenter

Carpenter, CharlesFORT EDWARD – Charles Blaine Carpenter, 76, of Fort Edward, passed away surrounded by his loving children at his home, on Monday, December 8, 2014, after a long illness.

Born on January 4, 1938 in Ticonderoga, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Catherine E. (Lambert) Carpenter.

Blaine attended Fort Edward Schools and on February 24, 1960, he married Barbara Orton.     They spent 47 wonderful years together raising their family before she passed away on August 15, 2007. 

For 40 years, he was employed as a machine operator at Decora Manufacturing in Fort Edward.  Blaine took wonderful care of his family, many times working several jobs to give them what they needed.  His family was the center of his life.  Blaine went above and beyond to be a caring and loving husband and father.  

He was also an excellent mechanic.  Blaine was good with his hands and could fix any engine that was brought before him.   He loved motor sports, snowmobiling, motor cycles and driving race cars his whole life.    His passion for anything with a motor was passed on to his family.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his siblings, Monica Bellephine, John Carpenter, Paul Carpentier and an infant brother, Thomas Carpenter.

Survivors include his children, Edward Carpenter and his wife, Anne of Fort Edward, Michael Carpenter of Fort Edward, Rosemary Koehler and her husband, Craig of Gansevoort and Kimberly Veen and her husband, Eric of Queensbury; his grandchildren, Blaine Carpenter and his fiancee, Lisa Overstrom, Jennie Carpenter, Heidi Lynn Carpenter, Michael Raymond Carpenter, Monica and Keith Hogan and Emma Koehler; his sister, Joan Havens of Boston, MA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family wishes to thank Dr.Stoutenburg, Elaine Williams and the nurses from Fort Hudson, Krista, Matt and Joe, for all the wonderful care and compassion given to Blaine and his family.
