Betty A. “Betty Boop” Johnson

Betty Johnson 1 Betty Johnson 2QUEENSBURY – Betty A. Johnson, 72, of Sanders Lane, Queensbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Stanton Health and Rehab Center in Queensbury.

Born on November 19, 1942 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred (Swan) Stevens.

Betty was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Hudson Falls, where she was also a member of the Court Mater Dei #1442 Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Family was the biggest part of Betty’s life. Christmas Eve gatherings were very important and she prepared months in advance. An avid cardinal collector, Betty loved watching them through her window. Betty enjoyed taking ceramics classes; making gifts for her children and grandchildren. Betty will be forever missed.

Betty was predeceased by her longtime companion, Richard “Pa” Clapper of Queensbury, two brothers, William Stevens and Robert Stevens, and one sister, Beverly Cutler.

Survivors include her children, Phillip D. Johnson and his wife, Michelle, of Moreau, Stephen M. Johnson and his wife, Laurie, of Hudson Falls, Jeffrey B. Johnson and his wife, Lisa, of Fort Ann, Deborah L. Hayes and her husband, AK, of Glens Falls, Jason R. Clapper and his wife, Melissa, of Glens Falls; grandchildren, Andrea Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Kristie Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Michael Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Amber Bement, Eric Bement, Jennifer Hayes, Alee Hayes, Marlayna Kineke, Connor Kineke, Cassidy Clapper, and Jace Clapper; great-grandchildren, Shane Cahill, Sophie  and Hailey Johnson; one sister, Theresa Derby and her husband, Robert of Hudson Falls, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and Aides on the East Wing of the Stanton Health and Rehab Center; with much appreciation going out to Caitlyn Howard and Andrea Blanck for their care and compassion.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street., Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow at 11 am on Monday at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Union Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward.

The family suggests that memorial donations be given to the Stroke Support Group, Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
