Barbara Janice Knurek

Knurek PhotoFORT EDWARD – Barbara Janice Knurek,  of Fort Edward and a longtime resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away Sunday Morning on  June 11, 2017.

Born on November 23, 1930, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Heerhold.

Barbara was a very intelligent woman and reader.

Barbara was married to Joseph P. Knurek for 60 years. Over that time, her and her husband owned and operated many fine dining restaurants.

Barbara was a wonderful artist, and taught doll painting. Before moving to Fort Edward, she lived in Scottsdale, a Phoenix, Arizona suburb. She enjoyed creating and being artistic, going out to lunch with friends, was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, enjoyed making porcelain replica dolls, and loved animals and horse racing.

In addition to her mother, Barbara was predeceased by her daughter, Jolyn Harding.

Survivors include, her son, Robert Knurek and his wife, Kelly of Fort Edward; and her two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Priester and Jillian Harding.

Following Barbara’s wishes, there will not be calling hours.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m., at the Calvary Assembly of God Church at 100 Sherman Ave. in Glens Falls, with the Reverend Paul Keehr, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
