Avis Roy Gilley

GilleyHUDSON FALLS – Avis Roy Gilley, 80, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Betty Nassivera, on County Route 41.

Born on April 28, 1933, in Old Town, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Alma (Rustin) Roy.

She was a graduate of Old Town High School in Old Town, ME.

For many years, Avis and her husband, William, owned and operated Gilley Airways Corporation.  They were an air cargo company that flew out of Oswego County Airport in Fulton, NY.   Her husband, William C. Gilley passed away in 1991.

Avis enjoyed ceramics, The Red Hat’s, travel and most of all, the time she spent with her family.  Her favorite times were spent taking care of her great granddaughters, Kaylee and Ellee.

Survivors include her two daughters, Betty Gilley-Nassivera and her husband, Thomas of Hudson Falls and Janice Gilley of Glens Falls; her step-son, William C. Gilley, Jr. and his wife, Lexie of Portland, OR; her grandchildren, Craig Herald, Lucia Whitehouse, Luke Herald, Isabella Nassivera, Antonio Nassivera, Keith Chainao, Jeremia Gilley, Melissa Bova, Laura Gilley, Michael Gilley, Jessica Millan, Stacey Pickett, Merrilee Gilley, Keaton Gilley and Kevin Gilley; several great-grandchildren; her sisters and brother, Jane Copley of FL, Paul Roy and his wife, Betty of ME, Judy Roy of ME, Brenda Higgins and her husband, Robert of ME and Marsha Osborne and her husband, Edward, also of ME; and several nieces, nephews and cousins

There are no calling hours. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Corinth Rural Cemetery, in Corinth.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 959 Route 9, Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, NY 12804

    We are saddened to learn of the passing of our dear aunt Avis, and we will remember her for her wonderful humor, and her caring and fun personality. She was a wonderful blessing in our family and we shall miss her. Our condolences to our cousins, Betty and Janice and their families.
