Antoinette (Toni) Blair

Blair, AntoinetteGLENS FALLS – Antoinette (Toni) Blair, age 73, E-7 of LaRose Gardens, Glens Falls, went into the arms of the Lord, on Sunday, August 13, 2017.

Born on October 27, 1943 in Manhattan, New York City, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Raffaela (Piscitelli) Ricapito.

In 1950, they moved from New York City to Hudson Falls and her dad opened “Angelo’s Grocery”, on Ferry Street, Hudson Falls, New York.

Antoinette attended St. Mary’s School of Hudson Falls and graduated from Hudson Falls Junior-Senior High School.  While at St. Mary’s School, she was a member of the choir and was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church.

Antoinette was a Legal Secretary for 20 years, having worked for the late Arthur Greenberg, Esq., George Wein, Esq. and Robert Nolan, Esq. (the former District Attorney) in his Attorney’s capacity and William Canale, Esq.  She was a charter member of the Warren County Legal Secretaries Association and continued meetings with current and/or retired Legal Secretaries with Marilyn Bly, President, officiating.

Her enjoyments included spending time with her children, grandchildren, The South High Marathon Dance and shopping.

She is predeceased by one brother, Thomas Ricapito, two aunts, Nicoletta Piscitelli, and Delores Piscitelli, one brother-in-law, Leon (Tag) Whaley, two uncles, Michael Piscitelli, Angelo Piscitelli and his wife, Delores and Anna Mastropasqua and her aunts.

Survivors include her fiancée, Thomas O’Leary, Sr. of Glens Falls; one sister, Theresa Whaley, of Hudson Falls; four children, David Blair and his wife, Soonhwa of Glens Falls, Anne Linehan and her husband, Michael of South Glens Falls, Kelly Nolin and her husband, Timothy of Fort Edward and James Blair and his wife, Shayla, of Queensbury; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Madia and her husband, Christopher of Malta, Michael Blair and his fiancée Lauren of Cohoes, Britney Nolin and Nathan Nolin of Fort Edward, Shane Linehan and Shannon Linehan of South Glens Falls; a grandson, Ryan Fortune of Queensbury; one great granddaughter, Mianna Madia of Malta; and a niece, nephews and several cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday August 17, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on August 18, 2017 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward at St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Fort Edward.

The family has asked that Memorial Donations in her name, be made to The Rachel O’Leary Memorial Foundation for Children (or Rachel’s Foundation), C/O Trustco Bank, 133 Saratoga Avenue, South Glens Falls, New York 12803.

Janice A. Flagg

Flagg, JaniceHUDSON FALLS – Janice A. Flagg, 72, a longtime resident of Hudson Falls passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at the Fort Hudson Healthcare Center in the town of Fort Edward.

Born on June 7, 1945 in Fort Edward she was the daughter of the late Frank Colvin and Lena (Munger) Colvin.

Janice worked for the Washington County Head Start for thirty-five years

She enjoyed listening to Elvis, playing bingo, and cooking for her grandchildren. Janice always put others first.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her companion; Edward Hunt, sister; Edna Thompson, and brothers; Leonard Colvin and Frank Colvin.

She is survived by her four children; Brian Flagg of Hudson Falls, Michael Hunt and his wife Jackie of Hudson Falls, Donald Hunt of Florida, and Robin Schenk and husband Anthony of Hudson Falls; her five grandchildren, Amber Schenk, Taylor Hunt, Maya Hunt, Michael Hunt Jr., and Virginia Jakway; two great-grandchildren Sky Hayes and Mason Norton; her brothers James Cross and his wife Theresa  of Hudson Falls and Melvin Cross of Glens Falls; her sister Betty Cross of South Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A prayer will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. Sunday August 13, 2017.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to a charity of ones choice

Douglas R. “Doug” Mulcahy

mulcahydougQUEENSBURY – Douglas R. Mulcahy, “Doug”, the youngest child of Robert E. Mulcahy and Marjorie Cooper Mulcahy, began and ended his life’s journey at Glens Falls Hospital.

He was born on March 4, 1957. He passed on to his reward on August 1, 2017, after a short and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

Doug was devoted to his family and friends. He will best be remembered for his zest for life and his fearless way of living it. He particularly loved riding his motorcycle and playing with his cat, Jack.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and his brother-in-law Robert G. Barker.

He is survived by his life companion Linda Rolleston, his sister Sally Barker and her companion Richard Berg, and his brother George J. Mulcahy.

There are no calling hours.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a celebration of life at the Elks lodge located on Cronin Road, in Queensbury, on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at both the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center and Oncology floor at Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park St., Glens Falls

Barbara J. Savoie

SavoieARGYLE – Barbara J. Savoie, 80, of Washington Center in Argyle passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on October 8, 1936 in Ticonderoga, she was the daughter of the late Clyde H. and Myrtle (Martin) Manning.

Barbara was long time resident of Springfield, MA, where she lived with her late husband, Leonard Savoie. She also lived with her sister and brother-in-law in Glens Falls and Hudson Falls for many years.

She was a member of the Church of the Cross in Ticonderoga.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth Manning Brittain, Virginia Rose Manning Sartwell, and Julia Stone; five brothers, Clyde Manning, Jr., Kenneth Harold Manning, Bruce H. Manning, and Grant Manning and a daughter, Nancy Anne Dickinson.

She is survived by four daughters, Naomi Ball and her husband, William, of Fort Edward, Julia Smith of Glens Falls, Dianna Giddens of Florida, and Robin Savoie Brown of Lowell, MA, several grandchildren and great-grandchild; two daughters’ in law, Mary Manning of Hudson Falls and Janet Manning of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 12 noon till 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A prayer will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, following the calling hours, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to epilepsy.

Darlene M. Mulcahy

Mulcahy, DarleneGLENS FALLS – Darlene M. Mulcahy, 70, of Montcalm Street, gained her angel wings on Monday, July 31, 2017, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Darlene was the daughter of Mary (Ezzo) Holmes and the late Harold Holmes.

On December 8, 1963, she married Timothy Mulcahy.   He passed away on June 11, 2013, after 50 wonderful years of marriage.

Family was the center of Darlene’s life, she felt very fortunate being able to stay home and raise her four children.   She also loved taking care of her nieces and nephews and most of all spending time with her family.

She enjoyed playing card games, especially pinnocle and being outside.  When Darlene was younger, she enjoyed tending to her pigs, horses and dogs.  She loved living on the farm in Gansevoort with the wide open fields and dreaded moving to the city.   Darlene was a farm girl at heart.

In addition to her father and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Timothy Mulcahy, Jr. and her brother, Harold Holmes.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Holmes of Ticonderoga; her three children, Melissa Mulcahy and her companion, Michael Feltt of Glens Falls, Robert Mulcahy of Glens Falls and Michael Mulcahy and his wife, Iris of Virgina; her grandchildren, Tiffany Kasare and her husband, Hemant, Timothy Mulcahy, Zachary Mulcahy, Elaina Feltt, Michaela Feltt, Jessica Mulcahy, Samantha Mulcahy, Rebecca Mulcahy, Kyle Mulcahy, Tyler Mulcahy and Brett Mulcahy and his wife, Celia; her great grandchildren, Kaylee, Zoey, Quentin, Madeline, Amelia, Reymon, Sebastian, Valerie and Maddie; her sister s, Georgia Harget and her husband, Raymond and Diana Daby; her step brother, Charlie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Darlene always said, “There are no goodbyes, goodbyes are forever, see you soon.”

Friends may call on Saturday, from 10 to 12 noon at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Elisha “Eli” Elms

Elms, ElishaHARTFORD – Elisha “Eli” Elms, 69, of Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August 1, 2017, as a result of an accident.

Born on February 28, 1948, in Hartford, he was the son of the late Bascom and Elsie Elms  Reynolds.

In 1967, Eli enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.  He was proud to have served his country and also felt very fortunate to have explored Germany.

On July 22, 1989, he married Joy Liberty in Glens Falls, together they shared 28 wonderful years.

Eli worked for Washington County Building and Grounds for over 30 years, until his retirement.

He enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks with his family, NASCAR racing, especially watching  Jeff Gordon.   He also recently took up fishing with his granddaughters.  Eli loved helping other people, whether it was taking his neighbors to the doctor, shopping or doing odd job around their home.  His family was the center of his life.  He enjoyed the precious times spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Eli was predeceased by his brother, Howard Elms, his step brothers, Gerald Elms and John Elms and his step sisters, Anna Elms and Theresa Elms.

He is survived by his wife, Joy (Liberty) Elms of Hartford; his children, Duwayne Elms, Melissa Wright and Megan Elms; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his brothers, Fred Elms and his wife, Donna, Bascom Elms, Louis Elms and his wife, Gloria and Charles Elms and his wife, Sharlet; his sister, Alice Jones; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Sunday, from 11 to 2 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow the calling hours on Sunday at 2 p.m., with the Reverend Patti Girard, officiating.

Following the service, all are welcome to a reception at Village Baptist Church on Broadway in Fort Edward and please bring a dish to pass.

Burial will be 11 a.m. on Monday at Morningside Cemetery in the town of Hartford with full military honors provided by the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574 Color Guard.
