GLENS FALLS – Geneva Grace (Holmes) Palmer “Ginny” of Glens Falls passed away peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2016.
Born on April 1, 1926, in the Glens Falls Hospital to Lemuel C. Holmes and Elizabeth LaPine, she graduated from Canton College, as a Dietician, and worked in that profession at Glens Falls Hospital.
She Married Clarence R. “JR” Palmer on October 19th 1946, whom she met while working at the Hospital. They had 3 children Mary, Ron, and Sandi.
In 1964, she decided to take in Foster children caring for 50 pre-school children over the next 10 years. The first of those children, Doug Barret, his daughter Sonya and his grandchildren became members of Ginny’s extended family.
After some time being away from the Queensbury area, Ginny and JR returned and she joined the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad as an EMT. She later was employed as a Home Health Aid and finished her career working at the Price Chopper on Glen Street. Ginny enjoyed working with people, always had a smile on her face and was loved by all who knew her.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, JR Palmer, her daughter, Mary Richardson, her son Ron Palmer, her siblings, Gertrude Fish, Lemuel (Moon), Dorothy Fahlman, Chris, Madeline Chenier, Billy, Janet Eggleston, Jack and Dawn Mingo and her special friend Earl Grinell.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandi (Bud) Grant; her granddaughter, Andrea (Tim) Richardson; her grandsons, Rob (Cheri) Moors and Scott (Nichole) Towers; her great grandchildren, Autumn Moors, Max Towers and Maryn Towers; and several nieces and nephews.
At Ginny’s request there will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family.
