Kimberly Lynn Tully Heym

HeymGLENS FALLS – Kimberly Lynn Tully Heym, 44, of Glens Falls, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Born on September 13, 1970, in Hartford CT., she was the daughter of Lynn (Feron) Brayton and the late Kenneth Tully.

Kim was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School, class of 1988.  She then obtained her Associates degree in accounting from Bay Path College in Long Meadow, MA.

On October 8, 2000, she married Timothy Heym at the United Methodist Church in Queensbury.

She worked for State Farm for several years and recently was employed as a server at the Great Escape Lodge in Queensbury.

Kim enjoyed spending time with her husband and children.   Together they enjoyed camping on Schroon Lake and vacationing in Myrtle Beach.  Her children were her greatest accomplishment in life.  The children were asked what special memories they have of their mother.  Jayden; the special bond he had with her. Jensyn; enjoyed their mani-pedi outings.  Justin; cuddling and watching WWE.  Kim will be remembered as a wife and mother who enjoyed watching her children play sports, celebrating their birthdays, cooking family dinners and making the best chocolate milk.

She is predeceased by her fathers, Kenneth J. Tully and Jerry W. Brayton

Kim is survived by her husband, Tim Heym of Glens Falls; her children, Jayden Heym, Jensyn Heym and Justin Heym, all of Glens Falls; her mother, Lynn Feron Brayton of Queensbury; her siblings, Katrina McFadden (Drew), Jody Paoletti (Bob), Christi Turcotte (Mike), Jerry Lee Brayton (Debbyanne), Terry Brayton (Nanette), and Misti Gilbert (Mark); her father and mother in law Fred and Pamela Heym; her brothers in law,  Todd Heym (Tammy) and Tom Heym (Danielle); her close friends, Dave and Sherrie Moses; and several  nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Patricia Girard, officiating.

Graveside services will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday at Union Cemetery, in the town of Fort Edward.

Phyllis Ann Kew

KewHUDSON FALLS – Phyllis Ann Kew, 69, of Hudson Falls, entered the eternal gates of Heaven to be reunited with her son, Ray, on Tuesday, June 23, 2015.

She was born on October 23, 1945 to the late Laurence and Marjorie (Saunders) Harsha and was raised on the family farm in Adamsville.  She graduated from Hudson Falls High School and shortly thereafter, on August 11, 1963, she was united in marriage to Raymond Milton Kew at the South Glens Falls Baptist Church by Rev. Korb.  Raymond and Phyllis raised their children on Pine Street in Hudson Falls in the home they built together.

In addition to being a homemaker, Phyllis was the bookkeeper for Raymond’s auto businesses, their rental homes, and in later years for his excavating business. Their door was always open and the coffee pot was always on for family and friends, any time, day or night.  She lived for her children and mourned the loss of her son, Ray at age 23.  Her grandchildren brought her great comfort and joy over the years, and her great-granddaughter, Mia, was the light of her life.

Family time was the center of her world, whether it was cruising annually with her daughter’s family to Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Belize, or traveling locally to Busch Gardens, Virginia and Myrtle Beaches, or just spending time at home with the grandchildren, playing video games, building legos with them or swinging in the back yard.  She enjoyed shopping with her daughter and granddaughter, especially their annual 24-hour marathon Black Friday shopping trips, and she always looked forward to weekly visits with her dear friend, Olive Breault, and her friend and hair stylist, Laurie Cottrell-Orsini.

It recently came to light that for years Phyllis sponsored and corresponded with an overseas child, and subsequently adopted another after that child grew up.   Her daughter discovered this when mailing a check for her.  That was the kind of person she was – private, humble, generous, selfless, compassionate and above all, her daughter’s hero, being the best mother and friend anyone could ask for.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Raymond M. Kew and her sister, Donna (Harsha) White.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Michele Langlois and her husband, John of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Jason Langlois of Los Angeles, California, Sgt. Kyle and Jackilyn (Winchell) Langlois of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Amber Langlois of Albany; her great granddaughter, Mia Perez; her brother, Richard Harsha (Odelie) of Adamsville; her sister, Debbie Pollack (Thomas) of Argyle; her brother-in-law, Orin White, Jr. of Hartford, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, June 29, 2015, from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The funeral service will follow calling hours at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward, where she will be laid to rest with her son.

Sandy (Colvin) Chainao

Chainao POST STARNORTH CREEK – Sandy (Colvin) Chainao, 69, of North Creek, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on November 15, 1945, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Frances Brower.

For about 25 years, Sandy was the proud owner and operator of the White Pine Restaurant in North Creek, with her long time friend, Doris Fish.   While running the restaurant, she made great food and developed many friendships.  The White Pine Restaurant was best known for its ever changing “Christmas Tree” in which was decorated according to each season.   In her earlier years, Sandy enjoyed going camping.  More recently, she loved socializing and spending time with her friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheri Powell and her husband, Keith of Fort Edward; her brothers, Bob Colvin and his wife, Joan of Lewiston, ME and Bill Colvin of South Glens Falls; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Sparky.

The Rite of Committal will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Her family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Johnsburg Emergency Squad, Kelly Nessle, P.O. Box 23, Johnsburg, New York 12843.

Funeral arrangements are under care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Skylar Scott “Superman” Bennett

BennettSouth Glens Falls – Skylar Scott “Superman” Bennett, 9 months old, passed away in his mother’s arms, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 19, 2015, at Albany Medical Center, after fighting a long battle.

Born on September 6, 2014 in Albany, he was the son of Timothy J. and Laura J. (Hubbard) Bennett.

Skylar was a fighter, who fought every day of his life.   He loved listening to music and being around his family.

Skylar was predeceased by his great grandmother, Catherine Bennett and his cousin, Caitlin Amber Echeandia-Duggan.

Survivors include his loving parents, Timothy and Laura Bennett of South Glens Falls; his three brothers, Jacob Kyle Bennett, Braydon James Bennett and Ashton Matthew Bennett; his paternal grandparents, David Bennett and Jill Bennett both of South Glens Falls; his maternal grandparents, Franklin and Jean Hubbard of South Glens Falls; his uncle Andy Duggan; and several great grandparents, great aunts, great uncles and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, June 26, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Following the calling hours, prayers will be shared at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank his special Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse, Andrea Marden at Albany Medical Center, for her love, kindness and compassion.

Barbara “Barbie” A. Perry

PerryQUEENSBURY – Barbara “Barbie” A. Perry, 49, of the Boulevard, went into the arms of the Lord, at her home, on Thursday, June 18, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on November 13, 1965, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth R. and Barbara (Bauer) Perry.

Barbie was a graduate of Queensbury Union Free High School and was very proud to have attended culinary school at BOCES.  For over 25 years, Barbie spent her life with her soulmate and friend, Brian.  He stood by her side throughout the good times and throughout her fight to get well.

Barbie was a driver and a preloader for UPS for 25 years, until her illness.  She was a hard worker, who was always there to lend a helping hand.

It gave her great pleasure spending time outside, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.  Barbie enjoyed long rides with Brian, fishing and camping at Newcomb, her favorite place.  She lived for her grandson, Brantley and also spending time with Brittany, Brooke and Brian, who were bright spots in her life.  Family time was the center of her world.  Barbie enjoyed the family times spent apple picking, pumpkin carving and dyeing eggs for Easter.  She was a wonderful cook, who loved cookouts and huge Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.  Barbie looked forward to her Wednesday girl’s night at Connie’s home.  She also loved animals, especially her dogs.  Barbie was a giving, accepting person who had made many many friends throughout her life.

She is survived by her soulmate and true love, Brian Merlow of Queensbury; her three children, Brittany Plude and her boyfriend, Doug Gipe, Brooke Merlow and her boyfriend, Wayne Mattison and Brian Vaughn and his girlfriend, Jessica Viger; her grandson, Brantley Plude; her brother, Brian Perry; her sister, Bonita Perry and her finance, Jeff Lamphear; her two nieces, Elizabeth Rosenberger and her husband, Dave and Paige Perry and her fiancé Logan Doetsch; and two nephews, Stephen and Jacob Rosenberger.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Memorial services will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at a later date in Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street in Glens Falls.

Her family would like to thank the staff on Tower 2 at the Glens Falls Hospital, the CR Wood Cancer Center and High Peaks Hospice for the wonderful love, care and compassion given to Barbie and her family.

Edith F. (Henderson) French

FrenchGANSEVOORT – Edith F. (Henderson) French, 89, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015.

Born on February 17, 1926 in Gansevoort, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Hazel Henderson.  Edith was raised on her family’s farm and lived most of her life on the West River Road.  She loved being on the Hudson River enjoying the boats, the geese, her yard and gardens.

Edith graduated from Fort Edward High School and worked at Sandy Hill Iron and Brass as a bookkeeper.  She married the late William “Bill” French on July 12, 1947 and together they raised their three children.

Edith and Bill owned and operated the Mobil Station on Main Street in Hudson Falls for 16 years.  Later, she became a teacher’s aide for BOCES, retiring at the age of 85.  Edith developed many close relationships with students and staff.  She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson Falls, serving as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Board of Trustees.  Edith truly lived her Christian faith in word and deed.

She was a hardworking woman with many talents.  Edith enjoyed sewing, selling Sarah Coventry, making beautiful cakes, taking and sharing photographs, various crafts and canning the annual harvest.  But what she loved most was spending time with her family and many friends.  Edith always remembered everyone’s birthday or anniversary with a specially selected card and a treasure she had discovered that was made “just for you.”

Edith was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Lee Ashcroft and her infant granddaughters Baby Girl French and Heather French.

Survivors include her children Glenda and Richard Hastings, Jeffrey and Kathy French, her son-in-law Lawrence Ashcroft and her brother Howard Henderson.  Her grandchildren Gregory Amorosi, Stacey Amorosi and Micah Sakata, Melanie and Jeffrey Schraver, Chad and Keri St. John, Timothy St. John, Jessica St. John, Jeffrey and Lena French, Sara and Ron King, and Larry and Keri Ashcroft brought her great joy.  Edith is also survived by her beloved twenty-two great grandchildren and her great-great granddaughter Zoe.  She treasured a very special relationship with the Wright Family and truly loved all of her nieces and nephews.  She was known and loved in return by many as their dear Aunt Edith.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 20 at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church on Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial services will be private at a later date.

GLENS FALLS – Herbert E. “Herbie” LaPorte, 88, of Glens Falls, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 11 a.m., at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

Mary (Duell) Euber

EuberTHURMAN – Mary Blossom (Duell) Euber, 78, of Thurman, passed away peacefully at home, on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.

Born December 4, 1937, in Brant Lake, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian (Wilcox) Duell.

Mary enjoyed being around her children and loved listening to music, especially Elvis Presley.  She was so happy to be loved by all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her children, Victor Euber, John Euber, Eugene Euber, Becky Carson, Jim Euber and Steve Euber and her siblings, Helen Inglee, Patricia Carpenter, Leon Duell, Caleb Duell and Bill Duell.

Survivors include her children, Rebecca Bygd and her companion William Reese, Randy Prescott, Robin Alden and her husband, Eric, Mary Ann Euber, Emma James and her husband, Vern, Cheryl Ross and her husband, Tony, Patti Pond and her husband, Craig and Loretta Lynn Murray; her sister, Daisy Duell; her brother, John Duell; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and her companion, Roger Murray.

Mary’s family would like to thank county nurses, Kathy McGowan and Meg Haskell and county aide, Shanna Clark and the many people who cared for Mary.

Friends may call on Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

Robert L. “Bob” Bacon, Jr.

Bacon 2 Bacon 1FORT EDWARD – Robert L. “Bob” Bacon, Jr., 66, of Hudson Street, passed away peacefully, at his home on Sunday, June, 7, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle against cancer.

Born on November 7, 1948, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Mary (Merritt) Bacon Sr.

Bob attended Hudson Falls High School and then was drafted into the United States Army.  He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and in honor of service to his country, he received several medals.

Prior to serving in Vietnam, Bob married his sweetheart, Shirley Shaw.  They have been together for 46 wonderful years.

Following his military service, Bob was employed at Native Textile and Ciba Geigy.  He loved driving truck cross country and did this until his retirement.

Bob loved to fish with his sons, Shawn and Bobby in the Adirondacks.  He also enjoyed hunting deer, watching the New York Giants, New York Yankees and watching NASCAR.  Bob was the kind of guy who was easy to get along with and had many friends over the years.  He could talk your ear off.  His most treasured moments were with his wife, children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he has predeceased by two infant children.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Bacon of Fort Edward; his two sons, Shawn Bacon and his significant other, Stacey Potvin of Fort Edward and Robert W. Bacon and his significant other, Natalie of Hudson Falls; his three grandchildren, Bryana Bacon, Brandon Bacon and Kaylee Bacon; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Rite of Committal, with full military honors will be 11 am on Friday, June 12, 2015, at the Gerald BH Solomon- Saratoga National Cemetery, in the town of Stillwater.

Thomas E. “Tom” Beahan

BeahanHUDSON FALLS – Thomas E. “Tom” Beahan, a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015, at Indian River Rehabilitation Center in Granville.

Born on August 30, 1943, in Glens Falls he was the son of the late Allen and Dorothy (Gaulin) Beahan.

Tom was a 1962 graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

On October 8, 1982, he married Deborah Diskin in Glens Falls.

Tom had worked for Sandy Hill Iron and Brass for several years and then worked as a car salesman for various car dealers in the area.

He was an avid golfer and bowler.  Tom coached girls softball for the Hudson Falls Summer League.  He enjoyed wintering in Florida with his wife, Deborah, and spending summers in Lake George “people watching”.  Tom was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, whose funny and unpredictable personality will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Frederick Beahan.

Tom is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deborah Beahan of Hudson Falls; his children, Beth Cowles of Hudson Falls and Stephanie Rivette and her fiancé, Scott Jarvis of Lake Luzerne; his step children, Rachel Rich-Zabar and her husband, Jason of Winter Garden, Florida and Brian Rich of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren, Matthew Cowles of NC, Anthony Cowles of Hudson Falls, Morgan Rivette of Lake Luzerne, Isabella Zabar and Aidan Zabar, both of Florida; his great grandchildren, Sonny Cowles, Scarlett Cowles, both of NC and Ethan Cowles of Hudson Falls; his sister, Linda Clum and her husband, Peter of Gansevoort; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Mary Rose (Casey) Legault

Legault 2 Legault 1HUDSON FALLS – Mary Rose (Casey) Legault, 84, formerly of Pearl Street, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.

Born on May 9, 1931 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Helen (Burke) Casey.

Mary Rose graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1950 and continued her education at SUNY at Plattsburgh.  She received her Registered Nursing Degree in 1953 and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1954.   For 35 years, Mary Rose was the School Nurse and Health Education teacher at Lake George Central School, retiring in June 1985.

She was ahead of her time in her dedication to the pursuit of her career, serving as a role model to young women of future generations.

On June 22, 1968, she married Joseph J. Legault at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls, and became mother to his children, Jeri, Jan and Joey. He passed away on February 8, 2009, after 40 years of marriage.

Mary Rose was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and a member of the New York State Teacher’s Association.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Tom Casey, and her sisters, Patricia Brummagyn, Helen McCauley, Ann Depalo and Bernadette Mulcahy.

Survivors include her children, Jeri Hasell and her husband, Dave of Wynantskill, Jan Lapoint of Glens Falls, Joseph Legault and his wife, Zenaida of Oklahoma City, OK and Elizabeth Legault of Lincoln,RI; her six grandchildren, Melissa Mueller, Erin and Sam Lapoint, Vicki Villa and Jenna Helling; her brother, Patrick “Bub” Casey of Granville; her sister, Monica Eastman of Fort Edward; her sisters in law, Julia Casey of Kingsbury, Joy Legault of Queensbury, Beverly Legault of Hudson Falls and Mel Daly of Queensbury; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Rose loved her time with Joe, from packing up for their winter home in Florida to springing back to open up their summer haven, the Legault Chateau, on Hadlock Pond.  She also loved following Lizzy’s athletic and professional career, as well as enjoying a weekly “date night” with Lizzy for the past two years.  Most of all, she treasured being at camp, surrounded by the laughter of family and friends.

Mary Rose’s family would like to express a sincere and heartfelt thanks to the multiple care-givers who helped make the last years of Mary Rose’s life as safe and comfortable as possible, and to the wonderful and caring staff at Fort Hudson.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park in Hudson Falls.

Hope M. Fleury

FleuryHUDSON FALLS – Hope M. Fleury, passed away quietly, Thursday, June 4, 2015, in her residence at Wynwood of Brookdale Assisted Living in Niskayuna, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 22, 1921, in Plattsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Johanna (Jackstadt) Hewitt of Whitehall.

In 1939, Hope graduated from Whitehall High School.    Following graduation, she worked at Champlain Silk Mill in Whitehall.  Hope began her long career at General Electric Company in Schenectady and later in Fort Edward.  In 1984, she retired from General Electric after 29 years of service and making many friends.  After her retirement, she and her husband, Augustus, spent many years traveling from Maine to Florida.  They loved visiting Maine and also enjoyed the many years they wintered in Florida.

Hope enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, camping, watching old movies and embroidery.    She was a giving person who loved being around people, especially her family.  One of her favorite times was playing board games with her family. They were the center of her life.  Hope also was a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW and American Legion Auxiliary of Hudson Falls.

Hope was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Frank DiPhillips and her husband of 28 years, Augustus Fleury, her four brothers, Donald Hewitt, Robert Hewitt, Thomas Hewitt and John Hewitt and one sister, Marena McLaughlin.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Agostino and her husband Fred; her granddaughters, Jaclyn (Agostino) Mancini and Jessica (Agostino) Lee; her sister, Daune Martell; her brother, J. Drake Hewitt and his wife, Sandra; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, June 8, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Hope’s Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the Park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Wynwood-Brookdale Assisted Living for their constant support and compassion, The Community Hospice for their wealth of information, as well as their compassion and Home Instead for the respectful care they provided.

It would be the family wish that any memorial donations for Hope be made in memory of her niece, Heidi, to the ALS Association Northern New England Chapter, 10 Ferry St., Suite 309, Concord, NH  03301.

PalazzoLAKE GEORGE – Florence Marie Palazzo, 38, of Lake George, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born December 10, 1976 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Vincent and Barbara (Comellas) Palazzo.

Florence attended Lake George High School and then later attended Hudson Valley Community College.

She was employed by Extra Mart in Lake George.  She was an avid supporter of Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Florence was a loving and caring mom who always wanted to do for her children.  She had a kind soul and a big heart.

Florence was predeceased by her children, Hope and Mackenzie Palazzo-Smith, and her grandparents, Albert E. Palazzo and John and Florence Comellas.

Survivors include her parents, Barbara and Vincent Palazzo of Bolton Landing; her siblings, Vicki Palazzo of Lake George and Albert Palazzo and his wife, Maureen of Queens; her children, Tiara Palazzo and Samantha Palazzo; her fiancé, Stephen Bentley; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 noon on Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Church in Lake George.

Rite of Committal will follow the Mass at Evergreen Cemetery in Lake George.
