Irene M. Tarantino

Tarantino, IreneHUDSON FALLS – Irene M. Tarantino, 87, formerly of Pender Street, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014, in Lowell, Mass.

 Born on August 1, 1926 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Frederico and Olimpia (Bocchi) Gigli.

 She graduated in 1944 from Hudson Falls High School.

 On July 31, 1954, she married Michael Tarantino at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.   He passed away on March 12, 1999.

 As a young girl, Mrs. Tarantino helped in the family dairy, Jigli’s Dairy in Hudson Falls.   Later, she was employed at the Adirondack Credit Bureau formerly in Glens Falls.  

 Mrs. Tarantino devoted her entire life to the love and care of her six children.  She was a remarkable mother who enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time with family.

 As an active member of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, Mrs. Tarantino was a member of the former Court Mater Dei #1442 Catholic Daughters of the Americas and more recently a member of Court Morrissey #1477 Catholic Daughters.

 Survivors include her six children, Frederick Tarantino and his wife, Jasmine of Gettysburg PA, Anna Tarantino of Lowell, MA, Rosemary Kennedy and her husband, Terry of Medford, MA, Martha Wagner of Smyrna DE, Linda Tarantino and her husband, Daniel Harrington of Cambridge, MA and John Tarantino and his wife, Stephanie of Gansevoort; 13 grandchildren, Michael Tarantino and his wife Helen, Monica Tarantino, Frederick Tarantino, Erin Disanza and her husband William, Carlin Sparacino and her husband Frank,  Alicia Jobson and her husband, Lewis, Melanie Werenczak, Paula Werenczak, Kristin Harrington, Andrew Harrington, John Tarantino, Monica Tarantino, Vanessa Tarantino; 4 great-grandchildren, Peter Jobson, Susan Jobson, Cynthia Werenczak, Vincent Tarantino, several nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews.

 A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday March 7, 2014 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  In keeping with Irene’s wishes there will be no wake.  Family and friends are invited come by Irene’s home Thursday evening from 6 to 9 pm.

 The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

 The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Norma R. Barrett

BarrettHUDSON FALLS – Norma R. Barrett, 87, of LaCrosse Street, went to be with her family in heaven, on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born March 14, 1926 in Diamond Point, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Pauline (Wood) Dutcher.

Norma was very proud to have graduated from Bolton Landing High School as Valedictorian.  She had a passion for learning throughout her life and it was very important that all seven of her children graduate and continue with productive lives.

In September of 1944, Norma married Frank L. Barrett, Sr., in Hartford.  Frank passed away, in 1993, after almost 50 years of marriage.

For 44 years, Norma was employed at J&J Lingerie in Glens Falls as a seamstress.  She loved all kinds of sewing.  Norma made beautiful curtains, table cloths, Halloween outfits for the grandchildren, as well as Barbie outfits.  She also enjoyed swimming and tending to her flower gardens.  Norma was an independent woman whose family was her life. 

Beside her parents and husband, Norma is predeceased by her daughter, Connie Anderson, and her son in law, Peter Georgi.

Survivors include her six children, Frank Barrett and his wife, Carol of Laguna Vista, TX, Tom Barrett and his wife, Susan of Whitehall, Merry Irwin and her husband, Samuel of Hartford, Eva Georgi of FL, Pat Nassivera and her husband, Roland of Hudson Falls, and Steve Barrett of Hudson Falls; her 17 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; her sisters; nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved cat, Stubby.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be conducted later in the spring.
